I've always carried them in my checked luggage. Just easier that way - no issue with explaining, etc. at security.

On a side note: JJ, you are wrong about availability everywhere/ They are illegal to purchase in Massachusetts, so anyone planning to visit P-town should either plan to drive out of state for supplies or bring their own. Odd, I know. We could get married there, but no poppers for purchase. Ah, it's a crazy, cruel world we live in.

One can purchase poppers via the internet; that's the way I've been ordering them when I think I might need or want them!!!!! -:) -:) -:)

Personally, I dont spend money on the stuff. I just wear a pair of sweatsocks with old sneakers for 3 weeks str8 without washing them, and then sniff away. It has the same effect on me. ;-)

Yum. I bet freak-silicone escort enjoyed that!

Another option you might consider instead of carrying it on the plane (either in your carry on or checked luggage), depending on where you are traveling to and staying at, is to mail, DHL or FedEx the poppers to wherever you will be staying. You may need to make advance arrangements to have it held for your arrival but that shouldn't be a big deal. Certainly an added cost, extra effort and may or may not be practical for you to do but something to consider.

Never have a problem w/ poppers or most any gear. Actually I generally find TSA treats me so professionally (seriously!) that

I must be on a "please fly" list. Really, other than a sly smile from the xray operator or the occasional bag check they seem

happy to send me on my way. And they really don't care if you have a dildo in your bag.

Once the weighted ball bags in my luggage caused them concern so they sent it through the xray again and several TSA agents

gathered round the monitor. A couple with wide eyes and very interested grins. But worth noting that NOT one of them stared at me or said anything the least bit unprofessional. Then when one of the hotter agents brought me my back my bag and said I was good to go I said: "Glad you guys enjoyed my luggage." He let loose a big sexy smile and said "We learn something new everyday"

Once TSA called for a bag check and an agent asked why I had a lot of rope in my bag. I said to "tie people up, don't you and your wife tie each other up when having sex?" Actually he didn't seem amused and when he was done looking through my bag I did make a point of apologizing for causing him any embarrassment. Still they were utterly professional. and let me and all my luggage continue on our way with minimal delay.

Can you take poppers on a plane in your carry on luggage?

Can you just put them with your liquids?

At the Security Checkpoint

Whilst I don't doubt the veracity of the above, things in real life are a bit different. Pulling a huge dildo out of your bag and waving it to attract attention/shouting loudly to cause amusement/embarrassment to the owner/screening agents/people standing in line belongs to an urban myth. Still funny though. In fact TSA agents are trained to act in a more reserved and professional way. The article above posted by Glutes says it well: "If you don't want us to see it, don't bring it" (on the plane). Check it! :)

Poppers are easily available everywhere. Why would you want to transport them if there is the slightest risk of confiscation or otherwise ?

Although one can find poppers (or nail polish remover, as they are now called given the demise of video cassette players) in most adult bookstores where the sale is legal, the quality is variable. I prefer to use one I buy online or at my local gay emporium. I always check my luggage because I hate lugging it up to and down from the overhead compartment. I just put some in my shaving kit in my checked bag and call it a day. Never had a problem.

You are totally right on every point, rvwnsd.

But why do the guys on this message sound so judgmental when they sniff (word chosen deliberately) that they have never tried them, have no intention of trying them, etc? There is such a sense of disapproval if not outright condemnation for those who may enjoy something relatively harmless that may enhance the sexual experience.

Phil they are anything but harmless. They are the same as a quick dose of speed up your nose. Quality varies greatly among manufactures and you never know exactly what you are inhaling. More than one gay man of fame has been found dead from a heart attack with a couple of lines of some coke and a bottle of poppers on the table next to the bed. I was almost rushed to the hospital years ago by an escort when I took one hit too many one night. I had turned completely blue and I felt that physically I was in real trouble. The decision not to call paramedics was mine. The episode passed within a half hour or so, but scared the shit out of me.

I mentioned before that a friend of mine manufactured and sold the stuff and made very clear to me that it just wasn't worth the risk.

I appreciate the compliment, but as bigvalboy pointed out, they are not harmless. I've actually curtailed my use of the stuff because I don't like the aftereffects. A scratchy throat and asthma symptoms just ain't worth it. That being said, I do not feel any moral superiority over those who still use them regularly. I save moral superiority for important things like using turn signals, bringing reusable bags to Target, and walking to my local VONS instead of driving to the more hip Whole Foods.

I like them and buy them online. But I only use them if I am getting fucked (which isn't very often). I like that warm feeling and that feeling that I could pull the guy that is fucking me thru my hole if I wanted to. The most I can do is two hits because after that my dick goes limp. I have found that does not boost the ego of my sex partner. I used to just take it on the plane because I did not even think about it. Now I put it into a container that isn't so "Hey, I'm poppers" obvious and have never had a problem.
