The answer explained

It's okay Decatur Guy. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a set of books written by Douglas Adams.

As the story goes, long ago there was a group of super-intelligent beings. They wanted to know the Ultimate Answer to the Universe. So they built this supercomputer called Deep Thought and it took 7.5 million years to calculate the answer. The answer is 42, and that's all Deep Thought had to say about it. It was unable to produce the Ultimate Question to the Universe!

So an even more powerful computer was built, and that was the Planet Earth. These pan-dimensional creators of both Deep Thought and the Earth took the form of mice. Humans are actually a race alien to Earth that crash-landed here and made the process take longer than it needed to. After 8 million years, 5 minutes before the answer was completed, Vogons (a nasty alien race) destroyed Earth so they could have a better superhighway through hyperspace.

Arthur Dent, the only surviving human from Earth, has the Ultimate Question subconsciously stored in his mind. So after escaping Earth's destruction and embarking on trippy adventures spanning the universe and including time travel to the end of the universe (specifically to a restaurant where you can watch the universe end in glorious fashion over and over again), he wound up traveling back in time to when the Golgafrinchons (our ancestors) crash-landed on Earth.

The subconscious question was drawn out of him by drawing random Scrabble tiles. The message said "What do you get if you multiply six by nine?" The answer is obviously 54, but Deep Thought's answer was 42. Dent sees this and says, "I always thought something was fundamentally wrong with the universe." Never mind that the Scrabble message included 3 Y's, and an ordinary game of Scrabble only includes 2. Maybe he drew a blank. Or maybe it doesn't really matter.

In much the same way Decatur guy, maybe my question mattered or maybe it wasn't meant to represent anything.

While I quite often don't quite grasp in totality what you fawkers are talkin' 'bout, I can sometimes understand the general idea ... but this thread is a total phuckin' mystery.

What weird-ace parallel universe do y'all live in?

Crap, Gcursor, the question was fully answered. You just need a dolphin (make sure you have a bucket of fish) and a Babelfish to translate it! :p

Dr. Who would be a *different* alternate reality. :)

I agree, Deej, Dr. Who? You've no chance of ANY decent

in that reality! (UNLESS Captain Jack's making an appearance!).

Some people by nature know the questions..... others simply know the answers... The wisest of us understand both perhaps... We are imperfect and "human" with limited human perception to understand things... Our senses are strictly human... we do not see the colors of bees... do not hear the sounds of dogs... do not feel the sonar of whales or dolphins or birds or turtles. Our capacity of understanding is incomplete and perhaps, necessarily so, (and with with compassion to our greater potential).

One can strive for Truth of "truth" and give back what we know of our experience as honestly as we are able. We never really can "be" the truth. We can simply example our experience of it to ourselves and others who are willing to listen.

What is the answer???

It's ones human obligation to approach both the questions and the answers as we are humanly able in our own circumstances.

In the mean time... be patient and simply seek understanding if you don't know one, the other or either~

Never stop asking the question "Why"

Life and Truth have already provided the answers.

As human beings... we just need to ask and listen and share back what we have learned in the compassionate way we can understand things~

Life is more simple then being Human~

We are plagued by the distraction of intellect and the arrogant thinking that we are above Life beyond the Human experience.

Human truth is situational and in the scopes of human perception, we are limited and evolving.

Truth in itself is complete and always the real situation, in spite of how we, as humans, might like to perceive it or contrive it.

Life and Love are not about us but, rather, perhaps, accepting it and living it and sharing it back~

To love without personal gain can be the most significant expression of self acceptance and giving human gift possible given our human nature. Strive for the Will to Love~

Love is not some place you come from. It's something you are through the acceptance of Life and living it and giving back to those learning how.
