OK, I know a bit corny but will be seeing an escort this Friday and it will be out 11th anniversary.

We've cruised on ship's together, other travel and stayed at each others homes. Any suggestions

on a thank you gift? Mind you I've been monetarily generous for the last 11 years plus but want

to saythanks. Rocky

Make it something that will last and something that is personal. Maybe an item that is a reminder of the first time you traveled together.

There was a thread recently about being romantic. This suggestion is pure romanticism and anyone who receives this type of thoughtful and thought provoking gifts can count himself as a very fortunate person who is truly appreciated!!!

Congratulations SFW--you truly embody the spirit that important things in this life do, in fact, get better with time.

How about a U.S. Indian Head Ten Dollar gold coin (it is one of the most beautiful coins coins ever minted in the U.S.) on a chain to be worn as a necklace.

That's a lovely gesture and it is indeed beautiful, but at $1500+ an ounce I wouldn't be poking holes in any gold coin I own.

Well, apparently, it is meant to be in gratitude for all the "poking in holes" for the last 11 years....

But what I really want to know is.... what's he getting you?

After that long of even a business relationship, gratitude and sentiment should go both ways.

Just a technical bit, you do not have to "poke" a hole in a coin to make it a necklace. There are many ways to sturdily mount a coin with a chain loop and make a necklace. Someone would have to be VERY special for me to give such a gift, but it would be impressive.

Some good ideas here, but like Okie, says what's is he getting you? A free weekend? That would be nice would'nt it.

Writing

I've thought about this and I think "old school" is best on this one IMO. Something like a personal hand-written (not computer typing) message talking about your previous encounters and some of the memories that you have would probably mean a lot.

The other posters who state that it isn't necessary to drill a whole in a coin to make a necklace are absolutely correct. I wear an Indian head ten dollar gold piece as a necklace. Bezels for various coins are easy to find and not terrible expensive.

Tradition is very interesting. I was once given a special gift for a 13th anniversary. Tradition says Ivory---but no I did not get elephant tusks or some cheapo fake carved ivory statue from some crappy tourist trap store in San Francisco's Chinatown. Rather it was a fucking piano -- get it -- ivory keys (only they aren't any more) --and I DON"T EVEN PLAY THE PIANO. Well, after six months I was asked what I wanted to do with the piano. "Well what do you mean" I asked. Come to find out the piano was on a six month rental!!! 20 years later the fucking piano now sits in the "music room" and is owned and gets tuned once a year whether it needs it or not. I can play with one hand a few notes of "Silent Night" and "Angels We Have Heard On High".

I still think the imprinted condoms are a unique gift.

I have to tell you I wouldnt hazard a guess. Mainly because... You have known this man for 11 years... If anyone knows what would have meaning to him ... and to you... Its you. Truth is after that amazing run you know better than any of us what would personally touch this special man in your life. and if you really dont... Then dont blow the money on a rolex. There is a difference between 11 years experience and one years experience 11 times. after 11 years you have a better idea than anyone else.
