The Texas Rangers have reached the World Series for the first time in their 50 years as a franchise by beating the New York Yankees. Congratulations Texas Rangers--the 2010 American League Champions!

Congratulation Texas. But this could get a little dicey here on the forums. Texas v. San Francisco??? Any wagers coming down the pike? But let's make sure we keep the teasing, ribbing and eventual gloating kind and considerate. Yeah, like that stands a chance of working. :)

I know the network execs are having a coronary about now -- Texas v. San Fran? But I think it's going to be one of the better series. I do think it's going to be the Giants. The Phils just aren't hitting.

So cue it up boys. Texas v. SF. Sounds good to me.

Sorry Dan -- I just couldn't resist. But I will agree with you on one thing -- no greater fans exist. They are amazing.

Word of caution Lee, disparaging teams or their fans, or saying one group of fans is better than any other group will take you down a road that will not end well. :)

I wonder if George W. Bush will finally set foot in the Great City & County of San Francisco now that his Rangers have to come here.

WSJ article, worth reading

From todays WSJ, apparently money doesn't talk...

"Both the Giants and Rangers are hard-luck franchises that beat powerhouses with ghastly budgets. San Francisco stopped Philadelphia and its fourth-ranked, $142 million payroll. The $55 million-budget Rangers stunned the $206 million-budget New York Yankees, baseball's richest franchise. For the cost of the Yankees, you could buy the Rangers three times and buy everyone in Vermont a Lexus and an iPad."

Glutes, thanks for posting. It's an intriguing article...and nice to see that professional sports championships don't always go to the highest bidders or richest teams.
