I participated in a couple of lobotomies, mostly for severe depression. No thank you. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT; "Shock" therapy) works so much better.

There was a segment on NPR about recent medical research using psychedelic drugs (such as psilolsybin and LSD) in clinical settings for dealing with depression with very positive outcomes (and published in recent medical journals).
