Its Friday night, why are we online?

I had a Martini so Im not feeling like venturing out, and I thought I had a client but he turned into a runner...but at the same time Im so bored. I went shopping earlier which wore me out mentally and not to mention Im no where near 'home'...wherever that is.

I don't go to bars.. I rarely drink.. I am on vacation this week and read some books. "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch is very inspiring.. It is always interesting to read what is going on here too. So many different and interesting lives from all over the world.. Love you all.

It is now Saturday morning, but the question still holds.

 

Had a nice encounter last night, and then stayed up rather too long just sort of winding down (with a Martini) and watching trash TV.

 

Got up to a beautiful morning, went for a long walk and am now just drinking coffee and sorting through how I'm going to get the 5,000 things that I need to do today finished. I only popped on here since I was out of newspaper and had 5 minutes worth of coffee left in the cup.

I had a workout at 9:00 AM this morning with my trainer so there was no way going out on a Friday night would have been a wise move. Did have dinner with some friends but was home and in bed early.

my you are so sweet Spanky~~ I just need some change.. My fortune cookie, I mean TWO fortune cookies read that my dream would come true! So I choose an avatar that represents my dream... A wedding, a cute husband(not have to be a hunk or anything lol) and an adopted daughter~~ I think it would be hard for me to raise boys because they are so hard to understand and I don't know anything about sports and I suck in basketball and etc.. I get along well with girls. We will go shopping everyday and if she wants to play soccer I will drive her to soccer practice everyday. I might switch back to my polar bear once my dream comes true! You may have not liked your Friday night...however...what did being on line help you do?

 

It helped you vent your feelings about your Friday night.

 

It helped you reach out to others albeit through an exchange of messages.

 

It allowed others to know what was going on with you and in return they responded with their own thoughts and feelings.

 

Not the fun perhaps you were looking for but...being online is still a certain kind of FUN!

if I find myself surfing the net on a Fri/Sat night, yeah, I sometime wonder, "what the HELL?".....

 

but I stay busy most of the time and I haven't been in college for 20+ years (when going out on a weekend eve was mandatory, almost), so it's not bad.....I now prefer to go to bed fairly early and I automatically wake up early

 

oh hell, it's Sat eve (6:15pm) and here I am!....guess I'll go get DRUNKKKKK!......(just kidding)....

Long Weekends

 

I am playing catch-up after deciding to wean myself from internet for a few days.

 

Saw this thread and it sort of caught the spirit of my desire to go a few days without checking in -- tring to get some perspective back in my life. That said, I did miss some of the banter I have come to appreciate here, some of the give and take on ideas and opinions, and most especially, some of the very deep sharing we occasionally give here.

 

Here it is on a calm, quiet Saturday. I am out in suburbia, the only sound a gentle breeze blowing in the window, turned off the BORING TV, tuned out the blare of watching the World Cup, and just now catching up on e-mails to friends, and checking in here.

 

Maybe that is the value of this space - more than any other. We can find company when needed; we can occasionally get a big laugh, but most especially we can see we are not so different from so many others ---
