At the gym over the past year I've noticed a lot of uncut young guys. They certainly sound like Americans when they speak -- no accents. Is circumcision no longer required in this country? I thought it was, for some reason. Are some women giving birth at home?

Check out Lucas pornstar Logan, who occasionally turns up on rentboy (nyc). Uncut, mid-western accent.

circumcision

It has never been "required" by the government or the medical profession. We have gone through cycles of it being highly recommended or discouraged by docs, depending on the latest trends and fads, and of course some religions, such as Judaism, require it. There was a time when there seemed to be a medical consensus in this country that it should be done for health reasons, and then debate about whether the health benefits in terms of being able to keep the penis clean and free of infections was worth the trade-off in terms of occasional mistakes in the procedure causing injury and the alleged loss of sensitivity due to the removal of the foreskin.

The decreasing practice of circumcision among those for whom it is not a religious obligation may just reflect the general societal trend towards "naturalism" or the reluctance to pay for unnecessary medical procedures.

My observation as an occasional hirer of escorts is that the current generation of young men prefers to be uncut, but the problem is that they have no say in the matter since the operation is usually performed before the boy is old enough to articulate a viewpoint.

I am no doctor, but I think that circumcision is a decision parents make and is not mandated by a judicial order. In retrospect, my cousins are uncircumsized and maaaany years ago when I was in my early teens, I would fool around with one of them at every opprortunity. He was not circumsized and his penis stank to high heaven. I would always have to ask him to to wash it off the smell was so bad. He passed away some years ago, but I still savor the memories of summers at Grandpa's farm.

when I had my sons many years ago, the parents made the decision on whether or not to have them circumcised...The medical reasoning was at that time balanced between "no need" and "it's your choice". Being a circumcised father, I thought the answer was obvious at the time and reasoned that I did not want my children to look different from others when growing up...I had enough body image issues growing up to not want my kids to endure what seemed an unncessary one by being "uncut" in a world of "cut". Bad reasoning to use one's own insecurities to amke a decision for someone else.

We have never talked about it as a family, but I think in hindsight I was wrong in that decision....cosmetic surgery on a baby seems a bit drastic givens todays medical knowledge. Just my opinion.

If you don't have insecurities, you aren't paying attention. :) Parents don't have to get a license to become parents, only let "nature" take its' course and they have little to rely upon other than their own, often limited, experience and "visiting" with other young parents + reading, but there are so many books with different opinions, I think one is better off without them, most of the time. :)

My HS graduated 75 boys and 2 of them were "natural". I don't recall any hazing or such but they were definitely "noticed and different".

I am sure the docs who post here can affirm or deny but IF you are going to "cut", the easiest and best time is at birth. I think it a foregone conclusion that many are better off, hygienically, cut, but not everyone.

Best regards,

KMEM

I chose to have my son circumcised for many of the same reasons. At the time, I asked the doctor what "most" parents were doing. He told me about 98% of parents were having their sons cut. In hindsight, I probably did the wrong thing, but when you love your child, you want to spare them from future singling out or hazing. Especially about their bodies...

My circumcision

The doctor who performed circumcision on me was verbally abusive. I didn't like him at all. I didn't get my circumcision until I was 16 so it didn't heal well. I think getting it early is much better. :)

I bet it hurt at 16. I'm glad mine was done at birth.

I have a few friends who now relate stories of being called Turtle or Turkey Neck as a result of being uncircumsized. Some uncut men develop a condition called Phimosis which slowly prevents the penis from gaining full erection due to scarring of the foreskin and ultimately these men need circumsion as an adult which is much more painful as during the healing process the men still obtain erections which pull on the healing tissue. I have been at quite a few circumcisions and the baby barely cries as the moyle snips the skin. I guess it is best to not know it is coming. As far as cleanliness is concerned, cut is generally cleaner. As far as sensitivity, uncut is a bit more sensitive on the whole as the glans of the penis is protected from outside irritation when not aroused.

I grew up in a small midwestern town with a Catholic doctor and was not circumcised. The head of the penis is MUCH more sensitive when you are uncut. The issue of cleanliness is a snap-- just an extra minute when shampooing and that's that! There has been a recent upsurge is not circumsizing infants-- part of the back to nature, organic green movement I guess! Viva la' foreskin!

Peace,

The Only Thing Better Than a Penis. . .

Well, let me throw in my 2-cents as well.

I am still uncut and that's how I want to keep it. To keep things clean it's simple, just pull the skin back every time you're showering and you're fine. The only trouble is that nobody told me and I had to find out myself. (Maybe that's where the problem lies.)

What I really like about it, is that I can jack off without any lube. The foreskin easily slides back and forth over the head. LOL, I've been jacking off at all sort of places, even while in my seat in a bus. (But I do know not to make any sounds when coming.)

The only trouble is when I get hard with my pants still on (e.g. while on the street and seeing someone really hot). Then the foreskin is kept at it's place because of my undies, and the head moves out. LOL, since the head is extra sensitive, that's unpleasant and I grab my toy and pull the foreskin over the head again. :p

Regarding the question if someone should be cut or not, I think that every boy or guy should decide for himself, since it's his body and not someone else's. I remember a guy who was cut at very young age because of the religion of his parents and he hated to be cut. If a boy stays uncut when growing up, and if he doesn't like that, he can still decide to do so later. (The other way around doesn't work.)

Sincerely, Anton.

Is a Penis with its own Turtleneck Sweater!

I love uncut men - Clean or a little Dirty = Just more to play with!

Interesting thread.

In Europe my own experience is that we "cut" guys are the odd men out. Sure I remember the first time I saw an uncut guy here kin the US in college -- we made a lot of un of the poor guy, tho secretly I lusted after that odd piece of meat as it was BIG even coming out of a cold shower! Whew was he ever hung!

In Europe I have never found this phenomenon of the smelly cock -- maybe I am lucky or perhaps it comes from part of my own custom with escorts that we ALWAYS shower together before beginning -- so that I personally know he is squeeky clean!

Good hygiene

Gentlemen, the image of the smelly uncut dick vs the clean cut cock is becoming a cliché. I've seen circumcised dicks that smell worse than any uncut cock. The key is good hygiene and how you take care of it. For uncut guys like me a few additional seconds in the shower are not enough. You have to take your time, pull the foreskin and wash thoroughly with antibacterial soap. Rinse. Pull again and repeat. Wash several times a day.

One of my relatives wound up with this condition. He had to be circumsized at the age of 72. The procedure required several days in hospital and was a major hassle for several weeks afterwards. My uncle called it one of the most painful experiences of his life.

I think this is not a really good idea. Personally, I don't use antibacterial soap. I believe more people are starting to question its effectiveness and whether it isn't even harmful. The theory goes that many forms of bacteria are actually good for you and killing them off indiscriminantly is to expose the body to even more serious infections.

Also washing the penis several times a day seems excessive unless one is engaging in sex that many times. Then, of course, it is a good idea. But only with regular soap. I also don't use soap with scents such as Zest or Irish Spring. Just my preference.

Kippy, I applaud you for what you wrote. As an uncircumsized or uncut man-- I've not had any difficulties throughout the years by having my "SKIN!".

In fact I like being uc because when I have met men over these many years, they've enjoyed it!

<I am not partial in what I like, for I like reasonably heavily hung men-- uncut or not who knows how to handle with what he was blessed!> -:) -:) -:)

<I also love watching two men in action while 'DOCKING!" The bigger the better... This is sooooooooo friggin' "scalding!" -:)

Uncut guys are more vulnerable to HIV, and it is not exactly a question of cleanliness. The skin inside the forskin and on the head of the uncut dick is very thin, and the virus is better able to pass through it, it least in the case of microscopic scratches and tears. BUT, at least one study found that uncut guys who washed frequently were even more vulnerable. The reason is unclear, but may be due to the fact that the skin's natural oils, being acidic, afford some barrier to the virus. I am not advocating that guys be unclean, but uncut guys need to be aware that they are more vulnerable, and , as always practice safer sex. It suggests, for instance that some activities, usually regarded as safer, may not be so. Mutual masterbation, is probably not safe if semen is transferred from one cock to another, especially if the latter is uncut.
