1. Living in a nation where we enjoy great freedom and have somehow managed to find a way to compromise enough to allow 307 million of us to live in this country in relative harmony, despite all of our many and storied differences.

2. 221 years of freedom since the Constitution was signed in 1789.

3. Ever greater acceptance of gay rights by the general population. When I was a child, "queers" were unquestionably bad and very strange people. We've come a long way in the course of my lifetime, which I fervently hope is only about half over.

lots of things to be thankful for

1 friends and family to spend a beautiful day by the pool.

2 a loner of a friend who while not the party type still reminds me how special a day can be even when you feel alone. Thanks so much to the joys of electronic communication.

3 friends on the forum who are inventive clever supportive and most of all always there.

And a special one. A fourth for the fourth of July.

4 our very special traveling escorts. For whom I cannot wait to spend time with Here in sunny NYC. You guys know Who you are.

I would argue about the "freedom" part, but that's just because I have experienced a lot more of the "Disadvantages of the Patriot Act" then probably everybody else all together in this forum but that does not change the fact that being and living in the USA is one of the best things in life!

Its Just common southern hospitality. My family was long in the liquor business. So offering a travelor southern comfort is just a way of life. Or at least I was raised to believe it should Be.

Boy that comes out of left field.

Here I had built up this picture of you as a sophisticated Manhatten lawyer, white shoe firm, patron of the theater, the works. ;) Maybe we have more in common than I thought.

I watched a program on The History Channel about this gentleman and his long standing career in making and the distribution of Moon Shine. Very interesting show - highly recommended to see some down home American History in the back woods.

When I was learning to fly, I was advised to not fly over any blue smoke that might be emanating from less populated areas. In other words, if I was over some woods and saw blue smoke, go elsewhere. :)

I don't know about recent history but when I was a kid, Shelby County, the most populous county in TN, destroyed over 100 stills per year.

Best regards,

Well then, I am grateful that:

1- I no longer drink liquor from a still (My college roommate had one)

2- That I can still see since blindness is a side effect of drinking poorly distilled alcohol

3- That the hot weather here is not so humid as to leave me a puddle of sweat

Exactly what you tryin' to say, Whupped?

A few of my granny's cousins had brushes with the liquor trade too, only they were the drinkers not the makers.

Well, in retrospect a lawyer who has had experience evading the law… whether it be for himself or any family members might be a good bet after all... and especially since it involves good ol' down home moonshine... LOL!

Plus I am imagining Romann and Tomcat looking quite distinguished in a few years time!

Actually, I also have a few relatives who have had "legal" problems... Someday I will tell you about my Uncle Vito... and by the way he doesn't like when threats are made against any "family" members...
