I've always felt there was a community here, but sometimes it has been sparse and hard to hear among a lot of noise. All of a sudden that noise has died down and the community seems to have broadened considerably.

 

In the last few weeks, this MC has been filled with interesting posts on a variety of subjects. Every time I check, there are new questions, comments, or responses by newbies and apprentices, and the newbies include both escorts and non-escorts. Once again there are people posting whom I'd like to meet in person. That's in addition to what we've always had from Lucky and other veterans like him.

 

I have no idea where the change has come from, but it makes me very happy.

I can't speak for what it was like before. But I can say, I agree its currently an ecclectic bunch with great ideas. its a pleasure to check in every day to talk with you fine people. and yeah there are a couple I'd like to meet too, escort and client alike.

Charlie, I love it, always the optomist. OK Reality check, there are already threads of fights and people being 'timed out ' as we speak. Maybe correctly, maybe not, im not the arbiter of that. Thank God. But at least if we all keep looking for the positive environment it would seem to find it's way in more often than not.

Thankfully, there are some new members, though the number of escorts actively participating remains quite low. However, the number of active members has remained roughly steady, fluctuating between 480 and 520, since I joined in Aug. The totals can be found at the bottom of the home page. So for each new member, an existing member has become inactive.

I wonder what percentage of the "active" members are truly active, in the sense of posting with some regularity to the MC? And I wonder how many of the newbies will continue posting much beyond their first or tenth posts? Certainly the conversations currently taking place, or at least the ones I'm following, have pretty much the same cast of characters. Nonetheless, that cast of characters is substantially larger than at some other sites, where almost all the posts come from a handful of members.

 

While the nujmber of escorts participating may be quite low compared to the number of non-escorts, the number seems larger to me than it has been for some time. And many of them are here frequently; their bylines appear several times a week.

I suspect there are escorts who do read on a regular basis but don't post either because they don't want to become "targets" or are content to just observe the scene.

Online communities are just like icebergs. 75% of participants (or more) are never seen or heard from. Been that way for 30 years and isn't showing signs of change, here or elsewhere. We're actually a little more prone to lurkers, if anything, because you can read posts without logging in.
