Last night, Scott McIntyre, Lil Rounds, and Anoop Desai were in the bottom 3. I think the "voters" got it right.

Ryan said 30,000 out of over 30 million votes separated the bottom two, Scott and Anoop, however, it was Scott who had to sing one more time to win that "save".

He sang "The Search Is Over" and, sadly for him, his dreams of becoming the next American Idol were over. The judges were split on their decision to let him stay or go, leaving it up to Simon to make the final decision.

As a compliment to Scott, who's blind, Paula said, "you are an inspiration to the entire world" and, "one classy gentleman".

When the final 13 were chosen I was not too sure about the black haired

gay guy. But by golly the guy is great and seems to get better each wee.

Seems to be able to sing anything. He is now my favorite. I would like to

see him and the little 16 year old red haired girl as the final two.

Just my opinion and feelings.

Goodie, Welcome to the message center and I look forward to reading more of your "opinions and feelings."

At this point, I tend to agree with you, Adam Lambert, the "black haired guy" and Allison Iraheta, the 16yo, do appear to be the front runners.

Matt Giaurd, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, and Lil Rounds all have their work cut out for them. For me, this is one of the better seasons of AI.

I’m beginning to think that the judges “save” isn’t being used as intended. Or at least as I thought it was intended. Seems to me that its purpose was to save someone from being voted off because that person had a bad week or perhaps because the voters didn’t “get it right”. But the person had to be one that could possible go on to win the thing.

In the case of everyone voted off so far, I think the voters did pretty much the right thing. Why, for example, would you “save” Scott, only to see him leave next week? I mean, someone’s got to go, so I don’t understand what the judges’ discussion was all about. IMO the same could be said for all the other chances to “save”.

Thanks for the response. I, too, think that this is one of the most

talented group they have had in years. I like Kris Allen, cute as a

bug, but he has some stiff competitors to deal with. I think the

judges are waiting to use their "save" until there is a chance to save

someone who really SHOULD be in the finals.

Make of this what you will, but last night I had a dream that Anoop was discovered to have posed for somewhat artsy nude photos, and that the photos were splashed all over the media. In some of them, his hard cock was showing. And no one really cared, and it didn't hurt him in the competition. Why am I dreaming about Anoop naked? I don't think he's especially attractive. Maybe just because, living in his home state of North Carolina, I see him on TV and in the papers all the time? But I never had those dreams about Jesse Helms or Liddy Dole. Helpme, Dr Freud.

The last time I saw a performer with Adam's star quality and talent was the pre-Broadway tryout of "I Can Get It for You Wholesale" in Boston in the early '60s. I walked into the theater on a weeknight evening not knowing who Barbra Streisand was.

I sure knew who Streisand was by the end of the show. Adam has the same traffic-stopping appeal. Win or not on "American Idol," he is going to be a major star.

The Movies

Well it had been a couple years since movies had been used so I had a feeling it might be one of the themes this year and thats what it is. I do not know if they are have the broad package or going for a certain decade or type. I think I hear Tarantino is helping this week.

It usually means the Idols get to go to a movie premier.

Adam has been brilliant, Kris way better than thought and Matt a yo-yo. Danny has been okay Lil nothing special, Allison way better than thought and Anoop okay.

I agree this final group is maybe the best top 7 they have ever had, Anoop is not going to win. I still think it will be an all male top 3. Adam, Kris and Danny have not been in the bottom 3, the rest have. I just dont think Allison has the votes out there to make it and the rocker votes are going to Adam. I think we may even have an all male top 4 if Matt can keep his head straight.

Have to agree that watching Adam is the same electric charge that I got when I saw Streisand in "I Can Get it for You Wholesale." Also saw it in a young male Broadway dancer in the Andrew Sisters' "Over There" - An unknown John Travolta.

Although there have been other very talented stars, in my opinion, we haven't had a Great performer in many years....Adam may very well be the one who gets there!

If he doesn't win Idol it will be a travesty! I think his future is secure though, in any case.

I agree that Adam has the best voice and has a great stage presence. His version of "Ring of Fire" while memorable  for some (including me) would likely have resulted in his being voted out if the group were 4 or 5 rather than 12. One bad week, can leave a potential winner on the sidelines. I agree with you though that Adam's future is secure and of the contestants left in the competition, he is the one who's future is least dependent on winning.

I think Alison has a powerful and mature voice that will serve her well in the future but at 16 it would be hard for her to win. She stands to be very successful as well.

Danny Gokey is my personal favorite. He is not the most talented but he is extremely likable and his story of loss is one to which I can relate. I hope he wins though feel he probably will not. Of the four or five contestants who may win, I think his success most depends on winning.

For some reason I just can't get myself to like Gokey. I admit he has a good voice but there is something about him that bugs me - a little bit arrogant and he and his whole family reminds me of bible thumpers.

It would be a shame if he gets sympathy votes based solely on him being a recent widower.

IMHO Adam is all but crowned the winner.

I am torn.

I think Adam and Kris are the top two most talented and will admit both have the good boy/ bad boy look that represents the spectrum of what I am attracted to physically. Adorable smiles. The ovation Adam got from Simon surprised me because it was Simon but was well deserved. Adam's performance of "Mad World" was spectacular in my opinion. This is one of their stronger seasons. He is doing a good job of mixing up his appearance and styles to appeal to the largest base, but regardless of the outcome I believe his career will grow.

Adam is all theatrics and far too esoteric to be a pop star. Alison is without question the most talented but she won't win. My money is on Danny Gokey, who, if you follow Dial Idol, has been either #1 or #2 every week except one (#3). However, Adam has been all over the map.

If he hasn't already peaked, he will in the next couple of weeks and as more people are voted off, those votes will primarily go to Danny. The people who like Lil, Kris, Matt and Anoop Dawg aren't into Screaming Adam's bad Tyler Perry imitation by way of Wicked. The producers have a hardon for him but I can assure you the record label doesn't want him. They've seen how poorly David Cook's album has done and they don't want a repeat of that.

Furthermore, comparing Screaming Adam to Streisand is obscene and deranged.

Has David Cook's album done badly? I enjoyed his voice but did not even see news of his album being released. The smart ones are the ones that come back to Idol to promote the albums. Havent seen the other David back on Idol yet either. I have heard that Crush song quite a bit. Kind of bubble gum like but a bit infectious.

A few weeks ago David Cook appeared on AI. He received an award for his debut album going platinum. He's also kicking off his Spring concert tour "that draws packed audiences at colleges and festivals across the country". Sounds like David Cook is doing just fine.

5 remain...

Imo, the voters got it right. They put up a good fight but it was time to say good bye to Anoop Desai and Lil Rounds. According to Ryan, over 45 million votes were cast in this double elimination episode. Last week, Matt Giraud received the first "save" and it paid off as he made it through to another round.

Anoop Desai and Lil Rounds

Also appearing on last night's Elimination show was last season's runner-up David Archuleta singing his hit song "Touch My Hand"... David is no longer that shy boy we saw last season, he's growing up and much more out-going. He gave some good advice to those being eliminated.

David Archuleta: last season's runner up

The remaining 5 finalists are all good singers, it's going to be a tough competition.

Who will be the next American Idol?

Last night, Anoop and Lil were voted off, leaving 5 finalists to fight it out for the title of American Idol. Recent polls show the very talented Adam Lambert way ahead of the others but some think Danny Gokey will get the crown... What do you think?

Adam will take the title

My guess is that the elimination will happen in the following order:

Matt will go next.

Allison will go after that.

Kris Allen or Danny Gokey will go then

Then the other one of Kris or Danny will be in Second place.

Then Adam will win. His version of "If I Can't Have You" was amazing. And while he is clearly a stage performer, he has great pop appeal as well. Looks like he finally got a stylist to work with him on his makeup.

That’s exactly my prediction as well. And except for Matt, I think that any of the others could easily have won in previous years. It’s almost unfortunate for them that there’s so much talent in one season.

Final 5

First I think the right two went home, however, I almost hoped for Allison just to see the look on Paula's and Kara's faces when Simon would say "I told you so."

I agree with Kris, Danny and Adam top three. The only catch is this will be the week the contestants have to sing two songs. Prepping for one song should be good but prepping for two was a killer for most and the picking the top contestants was very easy and really only the Chris Daughtry exit may have changed history. All the rest seemed to align. I just think I would have rather seen an Elliott-Chris final instead of McPhee-Hicks.

I think the best statement I have heard on the blogs was

1. Has Adam peeked too early and could an over-the-top performance turn people off?

2. Danny could grab the crown with just one awesome performance.

3. Where do the votes of eliminated contestants go? This is by far the more important.

Last season Archie's voting block was established early but did not grow significantly, it appeared David Cook took most of the other votes, mainly Carly, Castro and Syesha. Same thing year before Melinda's and Lekisha votes went to Jordan. Daughtry and Yamin votes to Hicks.

Also the midwest seems more dedicated to the phone lines than either coast which could give Kris and Danny extra staying power. Pacific time zone has been a killer for most finalists. Not saying Adam is not the front runner now, but that has changed almost every year after season 1 except the Carrie Underwood year.

Nobody really knows the voting strength. Even last year initial voting reviews showed Archie leading, yet he was crushed by one of the largest differences in history.

I really have not been that excited or interested in American Idol during this season, but for the past three or four weeks, I have taken in some of its segments. In terms of my "favorites," I am fond of Kris, Adam, and Allison, and next week will probably cast my votes for all three or perhaps concentrate on only one.

All three contestants that I mentioned are truly talented, and I hope they'll go far regardless of the outcome that will transpire within a few weeks. -:)
