I've been to Montreal for New Year's the last 3 years. Last year was the least enjoyable of the trips (and one of my least enjoyable trips to Montreal, overall). A lot of the guys were not working, so it was pretty quiet. It was not at all festive in the clubs (Stock, Campus; can't speak for Taboo) at the stroke of midnight, much more understated than in the past. I am not sure if it was because of the day of the week things fell out or some other reason, but it's made me waver about whether or not I want to go back this year.

I would second that. I hadn't planned anything for New Year's Eve last year and decided at the last moment to drop into Campus about an hour before midnight. It was a drag, not even up to the standards of a mid-week evening in a slow period. I agree that many of the dancers were away or left for other parties (probably with their girlfriends) before midnight came around.

I quickly went over to Stock, only to encounter the same situation. I ended up going to a gay bar where I luckily made a pick-up and that made my New Year's Eve, thank God! No thanks to Campus or Stock though.

I think it was a New Year's Eve phenomenon. The week between Christmas and New Year's is regarded by the dancers as the best week of the year for business. New Year's Eve probably is OK until around 10:30 or so in the strip clubs. Then it sort of falls apart. I think it's because most of the dancers are straight and want to be with their significant others at midnight. I actually can't blame them for that.

It might be best if you line up a date with an escort for around 11:00pm, then you'll be sure of having someone to ring the New Year in with. But you better make that date now and be prepared to pay big bucks, like for at least 3 hours to make it worthwhile to the escort.

My partner and I have decided to spend New Year's weekend in Montreal.

We got our hotel reservation through priceline and are staying at the Hyatt Regency in downtown, across from the Performing Arts Center. Nice place and great rate.

If anyone else will be in Montreal for the New Year's weekend, let us know and we'll gladly join you for a drink to welcome in the New Year!

We were in Montreal for the week after Christmas and into New Year last year. We left on New Year's eve last year though so we missed ringing in the New Year. This year we are doing the same thing but staying through the 1st.

We have found that Campus days and Stock at night is the best. Prefer my private dances at Campus. No $10/$20 negotiations and the Campus day dancers seem a little more liberal. But Stock at night points on a good show.

Since we've been there so many times not that much to do in the daytime, especially in that weather. We shop underground or take in movies.

However, this year, we will also be getting married - since we can do it in Canada.

There are several threads in this forum about things to do in Montreal -- I think they're entitled something like "it's not just the strip clubs". There's a great Ruhlmann exhibit at the Musee des Beaux Arts (art deco design and furniture) and another exhibit -- the Stern collection -- of paintings, mostly by Canadian artists, which were the bequest of a well-known collector and art dealer in Montreal. And the permanent collection is worth a visit.

There are interesting things to see at the McCord Museum and at the Canadian Center for Architecture. And lots of other stuff you can read about on the Montreal tourism sites.

I learned from bigguy about a great museum/transport deal: [http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/TravelTrade/05/value.asp].

Have fun and stay warm.

There are some postings about recent Montreal weather in the Fort Lauderdale thread in this forum.

Several years ago I had a very good time in Montreal over New Years. The only problem I encountered was weather related. A major snow storm hit the city over night and I anticipated delays at the airport. It was amazing to see how efficiently the snow was removed, melted and flushed into the sewer system. When I left in the AM for the bus station (near the Gouverneur) the sidewalks were clear and the streets were returning to normal. The flight was delayed by less than an hour.

I just got back from a skiing holiday last night and dropped in on the Campus this afternoon for a *cock*tail! It was GREAT! 8 inches and quite thick, just as I like it! Buffet is being served at 10 tonite so may go back for dessert! Cheers to all M4Mers and the best for '05. :7

New Years in Montreal was a blast. Thanks guys for all the useful information. Most fun was at Stock, great dancers and a few new faces. Finally got to see Kirk's amazing fire act. Surprised he didn't burn the place down.

On Sunday night, I got to meet a few Hoo-members. I enjoyed a special dinner there sitting between Tomy the hot looking waiter and Cooper the informative moderator. Also met Sparky and men from NJ, Pa., and NYC. Looked like you were all enjoying yourselves. Hope you all got home safely.

Happy New Year!

Hey beefeater, it was nice meeting you too and eating my roast beef next to a real "beefeater". :-)

Yes, Stock was fun, but the place to be for New Year's Eve was Taboo. There were over 20 dancers in the lineup and several of the "retired" dancers stopped by to say hi. Good seeing Joey again, the dancer who pours candle wax on his chest and walks on the ceiling. I see another dancer is now following in his footsteps.

Contrary to what someone else posted, the back room at Taboo is still well monitored. I felt like I was in Grand Central Station with all the activity going on. Very little privacy with the bright lights and employees walking in to get supplies out of the back room. One dancer told me they have to keep their feet on the stool during the entire lap dance. When I was doing a 3way lap dance with Frank and Philip, the monitor spoke to them 4 times about things they shouldn't be doing. At one point he said to them "what are you trying to do, give that man a heart attack". :-)

Got to meet Marc's recommendation, Helmut. Cute guy, unfortunately, I don't speak French and his English was very limited. At first he said he didn't do hotel calls, then said to me later, "how much". :-) Still my favorite at Taboo is John.

Campus was slow in the afternoons, few dancers and each day the same lineup... Adonis had some interesting bodies. Joe the tall blond was very attentive and my new favorite, Patrick, provided some good conversation and back room fun.

Stock is still the best for variety of builds, lap dances, waiters, and back-room privacy. Good being with the regulars: Riccardo, Steve, Marco, Kirk, Sam, Raphael, Manuel, JP, Rick, Rene, Nicolas (who's now at the Gaiety), etc. Liked Brandon's look, hope to see him and his brother again.

Nick the dick and Sam will be at the Gaiety 1/10 and Raphael on 1/21... Was very attracted to the looks of the manager's boy toy, unfortunately, so were most patrons... Spent some time with Danny who wasn't dancing at Stock. He's doing well and plans on a Gaiety visit in the Spring... Out to Luso, Johny says hi, he's not dancing and has no plans on coming back to NYC or the Gaiety. I guess you'll just have to go to Montreal to see him... As for Spencer, anyone remember him from Adonis and the Gaeity? He's no longer dancing, but is now a business man. He looks great and is doing well.

The weather held up nicely and outside of the cold and a few ice patches on the sidewalks, no problems getting around. Good time had by all.

Hey Coop, thanks for the update.

LOL... your breaking Marc's heart here. He loves to take his dancers to dinner and then later to join in readings from Shakespeare. Shouldn't be a problem for me; having lived with Italians I learned to speak with my hands. }(

Ahhhh... the international language. ;)

LOLOLOL.... if they don't speak Brooklyn english... it's all Greek to the New Yorkers! hehe

Even if you did speak French, it wouldn't have helped. Helmut doesnt speak French either! lololol

Hard to believe that is Spanish coming out of that blond haired blue eyed head! But yes... you were dealing with a passionate Latin. And his eventual response to your inquiry, whether he actually asked "how much", or asked "cuanto" or "combien"... I really don't care. It's all music to my ears!!!!

:7

BTW... glad you had a great time. Hope that we are in that city the same time someday. Will see you in the Apple soon enough though, and bringing some boys to show you too! hehe

I also got to say that New years eve this year in Montreal was

not up to what it was in the past and have to agree with NYO

I think many of the dancers are away or just spend the holiday with there family and girlfriends, I have to say that my favorite dancer who promised to do a over nite with me left me high and dry , we had our fun and things were really going great when he got a phone call which he answered in french , we took a very hot shower together then dryed each other off, well he wanted to go out with me for pizza soooooooo we got our things but yours truly head was still wet and I decided to go back in to get my hat and when I got outside my date which was suppose to last a few more hours was NO where to be seen boy did he piss me off the prick ... lol anyway that how I will remember new years eve and he did this on my birthday !

Hey Marc, If I understood Helmut correctly, he's only been in Canada for 1 month and started to dance at Taboo 2 weeks ago. He's become very popular, especially with the big spenders, and yes, we did communicate in NY Spanish.

"Will see you in the Apple soon enough though, and bringing some boys to show you too!"

I'm looking forward to seeing you, TY, and the boys in March. John of Taboo might be joining us. :-)

Jay, Sorry to hear that your b'day celebration didn't go according to plan. Anyway, happy belated B'day...

Since your hotel room was just above Taboo, why didn't you join me for the lively New Year's party at Taboo? It won't have made a difference if your taste in men is bigger guys, for everyone there was participating in the orgy.

It also would have been better than pizza, since the mid-night buffet and champagne were free. :-)

Happy New Year Jay and keep up the good work with all your Yahoo Groups.

Since this was my 1st New Years in Montreal, I couldn't compare it to other years, but I thought there were plenty of dancers to go around. Perhaps the New Year's party at Stock wasn't as eventful as Cooper's report on Taboo, but I had a great time.

When I went in the backroom just after midnight, the booths were packed. Seems that a lot of the men were welcoming in the new year with a bang!

We were in Montreal for New Years and enjoyed ourselves. Stock was a lot of fun although we've learned not the place for private dances. Always seem to get hustled. My husband was the only to have a private dance at Stock (with Rico) and he was disappointed. Rico led him to believe that a $20 dance would be quite generous but when he got back there suddenly you had to spend $100.

But we love to just watch the shows at Stock and that was where we rung in the New Year. No buffet though. We moved on to Campus where we took advantage of leftover buffet.

Our overall impressions - there were three of us. Stock - great shows by many of them although some of them really seem to phone it in. Manuel (Mr. Stock) being the king of phone it in. I know he's a great guy but he wanders out on the stage and pulls his pants down briefly without engaging at all with the crowd. Kirk and Sam put on excellent shows - lots of enthusiasm. I was personally taken by Jessy and curious if he might be different in the back then some of the other Stock dancers. He comes out fully nude which is a plus.

Monday night we discovered was not a great night anywhere. We decided to try out Taboo even though they are a little young for our tastes. There were about six or seven dancers and a lot of gaps. Monday after Christmas I suppose. Then we moved on to Stock where there were four dancers and even more gaps. Left. Great bartenders at Stock - especially a tall, slender and friendly guy who used to dance at Taboo and in Ottawa. Don't recall his name.

Adonis was much better than it has been in the past. Lots of energy with the dancers and a definite gay vibe that Campus and Stock miss. Only one bad experience with a new guy named Alex whose price suddenly rose from $10 to $20. Great backroom dances with Phillip and with Jonathan who has an interesting style. He asks if you'd like to help him support his education and tells you how much he's made year-to-date. He also charges penalty tips for "touching" but is cute about it.

Campus days is absolutely the place to be. A very generous man treated us to a few dances and Nathaniel is the one to beat. Literally. Mind you ... he's $20 a dance and up front about it - but well worth it. I had some very great dances with Brandon and with Josh who are both adorable. Josh has left Stock for Campus and it was nice to talk with him and get to know him. Both he and Brandon for that matter. Sylvester would not leave me alone and I need to learn to be more direct. His gymnastic show is impressive but he's not my type. Didn't get that though.

My friend had many dances with a sweet boy named Francis with angel wing tattoos. He was not disappointed and Francis seemed a very, sweet genuine guy. There were others but I can't remember. However, nothing beat Campus days!

Bettleman-thanks for great and very honest review. That boy at campus who is charging double needs to be called on his shit-otherwise it may start a very bad new trend.Maybe the other dancers will "have a little talk"with him.

Sylvester can be a pest,I thnk he is un peau fou.I remember my private with him right after he moved to the Campus from the Taboo and how boring he was in the back. However,on my last trip I gave into him and stayed in the back for 8 dances, and we both got happy! If he were not such a chatterbox I think he would be a great hotel private. But to have to listen to the fantasies rolling out of his head for an hour would drive me up the wall.

RE: New Year's in Montreal - Nathaniel & Sylvester

The first time I talked with Nathaniel he said he dances "for the money" -- of course, all the dancers do, but they usually are not quite so direct when they're first trying to induce someone to take them back for a private. I think he's great on stage, but he was only so-so in the back with me. Of course he wasn't price-gouging then :-).

It's hard to believe he can get away with asking $20 when there are so many who do (did?) so much more at Campus for the standard rate.

As for Sylvester -- he also pestered me incessantly from my very first visit to Montreal and Campus. I used to admire his acrobatic routine, but after a while (maybe because I found him so annoying), I was just bored by it. A while ago, based on a good report from someone here, I took him into the back, and was very disappointed. Although he allowed various liberties, and to an impartial observer might have appeared very sexy, it all seemed very "phoned in" -- to use a Stock phrase.
