Numbers on Santa Monica Blvd.

I have heard about Numbers on Santa Monica Blvd and, please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is it? Is it some type of restuarant, bar, sex club or just a well known cruising venue? Is it a place where escorts hangout looking for client, and/or, vice versa. I've been thinking of checking this place out but would like to know a little bit more about it before I darken the doors. What can I expect to happen at this place?

Numbers is a restaurant and bar with a patio area. It's on the second floor of a fairly nice office/retail building. The place is more "upscale" then you would expect from a "hustler" bar. The entrees are typically $15 - $18. The bar runs along one side, along full length windows that face Santa Monica Blvd. The tables and booths are raised up two steps and run along the opposite wall. That way while you are eating you can see who comes in, and the action going on at the bar. There are also tables at the far end that have the window view, but you can't see the bar.

You can order a drink at the bar and then walk outside to the tables which line the railing and are facing the various doors of the other business' on the second floor.

It is very busy on Friday and Saturday nights after 9:00 There has been discussion on this board in the past about how few hustlers work there anymore, but it really depends on the night and the time of the month. The end of the month, when rents are due in a few days, typically brings out quite a few guys. Several weeks ago while having dinner with friends, there were at least 12 - 15 guys working and at least 6-7 of them were very gdklg. Most of them are white, a couple Latins and one or two black guys.

When I was in LA I attended the monthly Hooville meeting at Numbers and there were a few guys obviously looking to be picked up. A few days later I went back around 10pm. A very attractive young man from Rio struck up a conversation. In less than 1/2 hour we were back at my hotel. He said he was in LA as a student and showed up at Numbers when he needed a little extra money. He even gave me his phone# in case I was back in LA anytime soon. I was surprised how easy it was to hookup with a guy there.

Hi KY, Without revealing too many details, what kind of $$$ was he looking for and would you rate his performance equivalent to an escort, a dancer, or a hustler? I know we cannot generalize from this one pickup but your experience would throw some light on what one could expect at Numbers. Thanks.

Actually it was a very good experience and I would equate the guy I picked up with an Escort. He asked for $250 for 1 hour, I offered $200 and he readily accepted. I felt $250 was too much for an unknown pickup at the bar. We decided what he would do before we left the bar. He lived up to his promised service and more. He was really a nice guy and I would not be fair to him to compare him to a street hustler.

 

Also while there I noticed one of the guys "hanging out" was an escort that has reviews here. I don't know his name, and haven't had time to scan though the LA Reviews to find it. But, I recognized him from his picture from the reviews I had scanned before my LA trip..

Thanks for your elaboration. I'm old enough (while still young enough) to remember Rounds in NYC back about 25 years ago and it was a great place to pick up young guys who were really escorts, not hustlers. I only picked up a couple, as in those days I was getting a lot for free, but the guys that I did pick up turned out to be wonderful dates and they did what they promised to do. I guess this was so because if they cheated on the clients, the word would have got around quickly enough because everyone was rubbing shoulders with everyone else in that bar. Next time I'm out in LA, I'll have to check out Numbers.

Numbers is nice. I usually when in LA stop by for a quick beer or two before heading out. I unfortuately haven't recieved and work there but it's ok. The place is really clean and the bar staff I think are some of the friendliest in West Hollywood which is so damn hard to come by. On my stops at Numbers there has always been a good group of young attractive guys and they all seem to be having a good time. Hope you enjoy Numbers on your visit and let us know what you thought of it.

Rounds . . . the memories.

 

I loved Rounds, and would visit there 7 or 8 times yearly while in NYC on business. There was nothing like it before it opened, and there's been nothing like it since it closed. I'll agree that the guys were "escorts" rather than "hustlers." But the sex (at home or in the hotel bed) was non-stop! Customers were either selling or buying . . . nothing in between. Limos would be lined-up outside, you'd drink in semi-elegance and you could have a good meal while listening to a good piano player (and sitting with a gorgeous guy). I used to stay at the Plaza Hotel and took home many a guy (most just wanted to spend some time in the hotel), many of them soap opera extras and minor-players (and the occasional "star" . . . including "porn star"), and I was never disappointed by them in bed. Remember the bar "Dallas"? I used to frequent there, also, and met some real dolls. Ahhh . . . those were the days!

I'd say the last couple times the LA Hooville Group has gotten together at Numbers the eye-candy has improved each time. Not over-run with selections, but at least a couple most of us wouldn't mind a closer look at... :9

Was there a week ago tonight (Saturday) for a late dinner with a friend. the place was packed and there was a large selection of guys working. It was so busy, there was no room at any outside tables, even to share.

Numbers is always hot or miss... it was a disaster when I went in last weekend - but on 2 visits (out of about 20) in the last year I have met and hired incredibly hot guys. Its a nice place but sometimes attracts some kinda trashy hutlers. Its worth a stop but don't plan your night around it!
