I have received X Mas greetings from a former escort who has passsed into "friend" satatus. That was fine and fun!

I also received one from an escort I contacted before X Mas but could not hook up with due to scheduling difficulties. I think, on balance, the motivation is ok, but as a general rule I don't like to get unsolicited marketing email of any kind in my inbox whether for viagra, penis extensions or escorts. It seems a bit indiscreet to me for an escort to initiate contact, and I am not sure I like the fact that an escort I have yet to meet has kept my email address on file.

YES, I received Christmas greetings from two of my traveling escorts plus from some of my local escorts that I see, even a few presents which shocked the hell out of me. Each E-Mail had a personal touch and not a bulk mailing that I got from one which felt so cold. The personal touch ones will be so remembered when booking again in the future :9 as I also remember the bulk mailing one with no personal touch x(

When in doubt I whip it out :+

i got two cards from escorts i see and one card from a retired escort where we have remained friends for over a decade after he retired. these were all "real" cards with a stamp and not the email things. also, each card had a personal written message that made me feel remembered and not part of a mass mailing.

Hold the phone here. YOU contacted an escort (from your wording it appears this happened recently), and now you consider email from him unsolicited? Did your earlier emails advise him not to contact you?

Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE, also known as SPAM) is defined as email that you did not invite. In this case, you DID invite it. It was YOU who opened the hailing frequency. It doesn't become unsolicited until you explicitly close the hailing frequency.

Did you tell him not to write to you?

I don't think there is anything wrong with bulking out xmas emails...especially if you want to give some new info or other stuff...i got a few...you kind of take the bulk ones though for what they are...kind of like getting the xmas card from your bank...i did get one personal one...sounded sincere...that was kind of nice... but I am still not sure about it (I guess I am not a very trusting soul in these matters)anyway..

hopefully you sent out some personal ones too :)

Here is kind of the reverse question....

Did you get any xmas emails from clients?

Sorry, I don't assume that everytime I enter a store, whether on-line or off, that I am inviting the store owner to contact me in the future. It never occurred to me that I would need to give any such advice to any merchant. Is that really your habit both on and off line?

I opened the hailing frequency, but as we did not contract for services, the frequency was closed. I doubt many clients expect that contacting an escort in any way licenses the escort to initiate further unsolicited contact, particularly when no meeting resulted from the initial contact.

Wow are you naieve.

Yep, you are. You're establishing a relationship with that merchant and unless you tell them otherwise they are within their rights to communicate with you. You've initiated a "relationship". There's actually legislation (the CAN SPAM act) that spells it out.

My spam filter is fairly efficient. Franco DiSantis and a number of other guys I'd ordinarily not have reason to email with are white-listed. The black-list is getting fairly extensive. (Actually, Franco and I are due for one of our brunches in WeHo.)

How so? Did you say you were done?

Did you say "Sorry, I'm over this"

Did you say "kiss off, I can't be bothered"

Or are you assuming a hailing frequency you opened is closed when it's convenient for you?

RE: just plain stupid...

So you send spam in your day job, I guess! However, as I said above when I ennter a store and look around without buying anything I do not regard that as a license to receive unsolicited promotional material from the merchant.

The only reason why there is legislation on the topic, is because on-line merchants abused the norms of good taste. Nonetheless, the legislation puts the onus on the merchant, not the client. It is the merchant, here the escort, that must provide the possibility for the client to be removed from spam, and must notify the client how to do that.

I always wondered who these useful idiots are who actually like receiving spam. I guess I don't need to wonder any more. Even so, I am very surprised though that in a commercial context premised on strict adherence to discretion that any client or escort would defend unsolicited communications initiated by escorts to clients.

RE: just plain stupid...

We'll have to agree to disagree then.

>So you send spam in your day job, I guess!

No. Far from it. The people I correspond with are people who have contacted my company.

>The only reason why there is legislation on the topic, is

Oh wow is this wide of the mark.

You opened the door or you didn't.

>I always wondered who these useful idiots are

Tactfully phrased.

You may consider hailing frequencies closed.
