He's MUCH better looking than in those photos. I hope Kristen Bjorn's photography captures his good looks more successfully. And Trix, Rio (and Brazil) is waiting for you! It's a lot cheaper to get here than you'd think, and Paulão would be happy to squire you around (among other things) for a surprisingly modest honorarium! We also don't want to forget something important for a belle dame sans merci like yourself: Paulão is also a perfect gentleman. However, I'm not sure he's into tickling, so you may have to forego that. He may be a perfect gentleman, but as a trained military policeman/security expert I'd NEVER want to experience his not-nice side! And doing something to him that he doesn't like could bring that out! But with that caveat in mind, Paulão is a great candidate for being a knight in shining armor, big lance and all! :9

If Tri will permit me, I'd just like to add my observations. I already knew that Tri was seeing him when I got to Rio in October and as soon as I saw the guy I knew who he had to be. As I remember, he's well over 6 feet and with the posture and personal carriage of an African king. One moment he's the typical smiling laughing Brazilian and the next you see him looking down that acquiline nose of his at someone--well, you just know there's royal blood somewhere back there in his family's past. He was a true prince in every way--although I hasten to add that I personally did not sample the wares. SF Traveler

LMAO! Good one Ethan. How pathetic can you possibly get than this post? Fantasies, as I was so recently reminded, is often the heart and soul of the escort scene. Let's hope this poster experiences his fantasy the next time, and that he gets to swallow the royal scepter.

I won't even venture into the realm of homoerotic, racial fantasies.

Sometimes you can't apply U.S. standards of political correctness to everything, everywhere! Sometimes, they don't even apply in the U.S.

I certainly don't think saying that Paulão reminds one of an African king is either racist or demeaning! It's a compliment. As Paulão would be the first to acknowledge, he certainly doesn't look like any European kings! (Thank goodness, too -- if he did it would probably mean he'd have those droopy eyes and that terrible Hapsburg jaw!)

But Paulão, who's at least 6'3", really does have a regal carriage (I would KILL to have such good posture!). In a roomful of good-looking men, he stands out! I told him ages ago they should have used him as the model for the statue of Zumbi, a hero of Afro-Brazilian history, that was erected downtown a few years ago! (Zumbi, the son of an African prince, led one of the earliest slave revolts in Brazil in the 1600's. He and his followers fled to the interior, where they established a republic of free blacks called Palmares that grew to cover a large territory and was home to tens of thousands of escaped slaves for nearly a century before it was finally re-conquered by the Portuguese, after many earlier and unsuccessful attempts.)

BTW, sometimes Paulão uses the goatee, sometimes he doesn't. The hair goes thru changes, too. Brazilians (and Paulão is no exception) are vain and love to look their best, which involves experimenting with different looks. He looks very good with his current hair style and goatee, but I think he's even more stunning without the beard. For some guys, a beard is a way to compensate for other weak facial features, but in Paulão's case, he's just plain handsome. As in runway-model handsome! What I like best about Paulão is that he KNOWS he's a stunner (I've seen both men and women go slack-jawed around him!) but he also has never let it go to his head, which is tightly screwed on and not the least bit swollen! ;) He's not only good-looking, he's good people! And everyone who knows him knows that!

Anyway, Paulão should be back from his Kristen Bjorn adventure tomorrow with stories to tell and photos to share. He'll also be available to spend some very personal, quality time with you! You know how to reach him if you're going to be in Rio and want an evening with a devastatingly handsome man who's also a prince of a guy!

perhaps it isn't racist. i think it is--at least on a subconscious level.

but ANYWAY, i still question the competence of just about ANYONE on this borad to accurately describe african royalty. how many of us have seen an african king? if you haven't seen one, then you are basing your comparison to paulao based on NOTHING but preconception and stereotype.

the embassy of swaziland is less than a block from where i live (it is on NH between S and R). you can look in the window and see a big portrait of the king. i assure you, he looks nothing like paulao.

is this one king representative of all african kings? perhaps not, but my point is that unless you've SEEN one, you have no way to tell any of us if this one escort in brazil looks like one. is he attractive? sure. does he have a dignified bearing? i'm sure he does. but to ascribe african royal characteristics, when one knows nothing about african royalty, is silly.

>But Paulão, who's at least 6'3", really does have a regal

>carriage (I would KILL to have such good posture!).

regal? as in european royalty? did it ever occur to any of you that regal carriage MIGHT well mean entirely different things in different parts of the world. would, for example, an aztec emperor, a swazi king, a thai king, a chinese emperor, a french king, a japanese king, an inca emperor ALL have the same regal carriage? no... so you're saying he has the carriage of an african king? ok, but please tell me which african king you've observed.

>In a

>roomful of good-looking men, he stands out!

i'm sure he's a gorgeous man & a wonderful person. i'm not disputing that at all. i'm simply saying that people have ascribed characteristics they know NOTHING about. why can't you fools admit that?

I was wondering how long it would take you start using your old insults from your pre-eviction days here at the message center. You rarely miss an opportunity to create a problem, especially if it means you can question the appearance of an escort, or denigrate someone who likes the appearance of an escort who isn't YOU! As usual, it's all about Ethan, center of the universe. Such utter narcissism and arrogance.

I don't know if the OP is racist or not. But I don't think a little noble savage misdirection is enough to convict.

It would seem that don't consult your dictionary very often. 'Regal' is a perfectly fine word to describe "stately or splendid." And last I checked, correct usage is not contingent on having spied a picture through somebody's window. Then there was that objection a few weeks back, if memory serves, when you had a problem with somebody using the word 'mighty' in the sense of great in amount, extent or degree. But it, too, is a perfectly fine word, with a long, honorable and colorful history.

Finally, just a word on people "ascribing characteristics they know NOTHING about." In a sense, at least in my book, you're trying to deny the efficacy of language itself. Rhetoric is ALL about expression of ideas and experiences through tropes such as have been used in this thread.

RE: Well, Foolishness Is in the Eye of the Beholder

Well, I don't know about the dude in the posted photograph, but Ethan, hon, I'm SO much older than you (a topic we've covered in another thread) that I can remember years of National Geographic photos of various and sundry African royalty, many of whom, like Paulão, were both tall AND regal-looking (although I don't remember any as good-looking). Not to mention the images of African royalty on old stamps (which I used to collect as a kid; now it seems to be a long forgotten hobby).

RE: Well, Foolishness Is in the Eye of the Beholder

i couldn't possibly care less how old you are. nor does the resulting difference in our ages interest me.

so, now tall = regal? larry bird is tall, so he's regal, no? or is it just black/of african descent + tall = regal?

or, could it possibly be that folks were gushing forth on a favourite and used a words they couldn't possibly hope to have actual bases (note the correct plural of basis) for? you'll never admit it, though.

No, tall does NOT equal regal. Time to go back to basic reading skills, though! In my post I said some African royalty I'd seen in old National Geographics (like some of the Tutsi nobility) were both tall AND regal! Remember the word "AND"?

Obviously, not all tall people are regal, and in Larry Bird you provided the perfect example of one who isn't!

RE: NEWS FLASH - Saturday's Coverboy, Paulão

Paulão's name on the Apollus site has been changed to his real name, Carlão! (So much easier not having to remember his extra handle!) Carlão is well-known here in Rio, for obvious reasons, so his repeat clients will be looking for him on the site under the name they already know. Carlão should be arriving back in Rio today from his Kristen Bjorn adventure in Costa Rica, hopefully with lots of stories and photos!

Emerson ("Eduardo") is now "Paulo" on the site. There's already another Eduardo on the site and the duplication was wreaking havoc on the site and uploading photos. Photos of a bunch of additional guys should be posted tomorrow, according to Alex, who runs Apollus. Alex has been busily recruiting a lots of hot new guys to build up the agency's roster, so the fruits of his labors should be evident soon!
