My point? I have to agree with ncm--contemporary public education (especially the disaster of whole language and invented spelling) and netspeak have contributed to a nation of poor spellers.

 

There is a modest but significant relationship between spelling ability and intelligence (sorry, Flower). Nevertheless, not all intelligent people are good spellers, nor are all good spellers intelligent. There are always exceptions. Also, as I said on some other post, people with learning disabilities or attention deficit disorders can be awful spellers, yet still have superior intelligence.

But really, I let my anger and hurt at Flower's grade school humor get the best of me, and that led me to cast aspersions at Benjamin, when I know from personal experience that he is a GREAT guy who is all that he advertises to be and much more. Basic mathematics would show that if I hired 2,000 escorts, my batting average could never be .0000, because of my experiences with BN. Even 1 in 2000 doesn't equate to .0000.
