I clicked on the link to see today's results for the March coverboy poll. I was surprised to find how many people have voted for Talvin in the past two days. Since the poll was started, Kristian has had about twice as many votes as Talvin. Now Talvin has twice as many as Kristian has. I think they're both very sexy, even though I've never met either of them. I did vote for Talvin, so it isn't like I don't understand how he could be in the lead. It just seems odd that within a couple of days he has received so many votes. Is it just good networking, ie all of Talvin's fans encouraging one another to vote through some other board?

It's pretty easy to understand. Talvin has a newsletter, and he mentioned the poll there. (It's what newsletters are *for*, after all.)

He was actually coyly and cutely self-deprecating about it, encouraging people to vote for someone else should they feel like it. And that's typical of Talvin. He's not one to toot his own horn so he encouraged people to vote but also encouraged them to vote their conscience.

I don't see anything wrong here. He didn't log into the message center and start a new thread to campaign for or plug anything. He just put a note in his (ordinary, every day) newsletter. Anyone else with a newsletter would do the same thing.

Talvin

Well as someone who voted for Sergio Real and who can not for the life understand the appeal of Kristian -- if I were into the younger set, there are two other gentlemen in the list I think are both "prettier" and more appealing, I think with voting a great deal has to do with geographic and cultural appeal -- as well as the competition.

Sergio did not get more than my vote and that of a few people. Some of these guys, the last time I looked, did not even have one vote. Who knows. However, I will add Talvin would have been among my top five.

I think the e-mail thing is a bit annoying, there has to be a simpler way of guarding against vote stacking and I noticed in other threads people are having problems with the procedure. But this again is also simply of case of how motivated people are. I would assume anyone who is on Talvin's newsletter mailing list and who proactively signed up for that is also more include to take action on his behalf.

I find it odd that a newsletter would generate that many votes...the people here already know of the voting so reading his newsletter should not have prmpted a big voter turnout...

You seem to be saying that people have joined this site in droves over the past few days to vote for Talvin...

I certainly take nothing away from Talvin as his reputation as a terrific escort is well documented - if he ever makes it to Philly again - I am number one in line, but I agree with the original poster as it just seems odd...

No, nowhere did I say that. Nor did I imply it.

But I'll be a little clearer since it is apparently lost on you that the guys who subscribe to Talvin's newsletter are highly likely to be his
CLIENTS
or want to be and may actually already be members of this site. It might surprise you, but some people who visit this site actually hire escorts, and even subscribe to their newsletters. ;-)

His newsletter is about where he's selling it, after all, not how to plant tulip bulbs or make a killer spaghetti sauce.

He mentioned a poll here, and guys acted. In fact, I don't think he even listed a URL.

What's so hard to imagine? That he has thousands of e-mail addresses on his list (all by request) or that a few hundred might be members here? Or might have actually learned about the list from here?

What a sweetheart HE is!

Did he ever figure out the difference between a webmaster, a website owner, and a hosting company?

It was a hilarious conversation in Vegas, and we had his head absolutely spinning.

He's not even remotely blond, but he was definitely blond that day.

Deej, I think you are missing Jon1265's point. It makes sense that if Talvin's clients did not know there was a vote going on for coverboy right now, then his sending out a newsletter via email would certainly result in many guys voting for him all at once. Jon1265, however, seemed to be pondering how it could be that so many of Talvin's clients were unaware of the voting and/or this site until his newsletter went out.

Once again, I am not suggesting that anything "wrong" or "underhanded" is going on. I simply did not know that Talvin had just sent out a newsletter to his mailing list. That certainly would explain, to my satisfaction, why so many votes came in all at once.

Talvin DeMachio's reviews indicate that he is one of the very best escorts in the country. He has every right to mention the poll in his newsletter. But, even Talvin must be a little embarrassed by such a dramatic shift in the voting for March coverboy. It is particularly

ironic that the vote shift should happen on a weekend when Kristian

has been the main subject on the Message Center. In fact, Kristian even sent a message in for the first time (nothing to do with the voting).

Talvin has been escorting far longer than Kristian. He probably

deserves the March coverboy award. If Kristian has no hope of catching up to Talvin, where does that leave the other 29 March

escorts still in the voting race? It must be bad for the escorts who

have received just a few votes. Deej is right to defend Talvin,

but he too must be concerned about the dramatic vote shift and what it means for future months.

Not concerned at all. Not one bit.

As for future months, I predicted (in private e-mails) a while ago that the polling wouldn't be a long-lived feature around here. The drama alone is a headache.

Some things just aren't worth doing for free. <shrug>

Voting

I think people do not seem to understand one simple point.

Anyone with an email address can vote for coverboy. It has nothing to do with whether or not they participate in thsi message center or are either casual viewers of this site, or have NEVER viewed this site.

The e-mail address requirement is a two step process, which should lessen the ability to "pack" ballot boxes so to speak. Sorry, the twink ho just pointed out that it is STUFF ballot boxes.

Oh well, my point, and I did have one. Well. Oh sorry, the twink and I are going to have sex.

Excuse me.

RE: Voting

Although I have yet to vote for the coverboy (which I suggest would be changed to coverman), I find making a choice this month is indeed a little overwhelming. There were so many fine men during this particular month that I will wait a few days before casting.

Also, I've tried to vote before now, but when a have cast a vote, I've received a website or some bizarre thing. IT HAS NOT BEEN AS EASY TO VOTE DURING THIS MONTH AS LAST.

RE: Voting

That's correct. HooBoy now uses a 3rd party polling site (not a site controlled by HooBoy) who ensures that everyone who votes has a valid e-mail address.

It hasn't been an entirely smooth process, and hopefully it will improve over time. For what it's worth, I voted without incident this month. I know that's slim consolation, but the process *does* work. (And yes, I know they said that in Florida too.)

The process seems to work well for some, but not for others. Please report any problems in "Daddy's Place" so all the tech issues are located where the nerds hang out. That would help a *lot*.

Thanks!

>What do we have to do hire Arthur Andersen to certify votes?

With the thousands of layoffs they've been making in the Chicago area lately we don't *need* to hire Andersen. Their (former) people are available *cheap*! :9

I eased up on some of the restrictions.

If you haven't voted, it should be easier for you to vote now. I figured out some of the problems with how I set it up.

Still, please remember, this is just a popularity contest with no prizes. If a candidate wants to go email to email asking for votes..that's the American way!

The outcome is not important like....well, the Miss USA Pageant. I could get steamed about that if I knew Miss Venezuela was giving blow jobs to the judges... but this is just for coverboy on a friggin website.

I take the greatest delight in looking at the COVERBOYS for the MONTH -- what a great collection of great looking guys who are available to entertain us!

Heck, I am hard pressed to pick one out of the 30. Maybe we should vote for the top 25?

So you were the ONE?

Here is an example of an escort with a fan base who thus far is not taking advantage of same to solicit votes and his fans are not doing so on their own.

As for Arthur Andersen, did you know that the original AA was actually the man who set up many of what are considered THE standard practices which helped develop the industry as one to respect and trust with regards to book keeping and audits? So says my copy of the New York Times or should we wait to hear from Regulation and see if he can some how show I am lying about this?

:-)

In truth there is no beauty.

That's because here at devonsf.com, the escort

promotes the fans, not the other way round (er, except

in cases requiring a little more discretion)! And

lately I've been much too busy launching my biggest

fan's porn career to worry about the coverboy contest.

Take a peek and you'll see why he could give today's

porn superstars some seriously hefty competition...

http://www.devonsf.com/mybiggestfan At any rate, as the client who wrote the review that

put Talvin in the March contest -- I also wrote about

our meeting in my diary -- there was no way I was

going to try to influence my readers to vote for me,

and in so doing, take votes away from MY choice for

Coverboy of the Month. :*

This was the funniest damn thing on this Board in months. Keep up the good work and keep that camera clicking. He must be starring in one of the new Falcon films Tom was talking about, The Whales of August or Free Willy.

Later.

Since there are no rules as to who may vote (see above discussion on Talvin's newletter), I expect Cory Sport to run away with the April Coverboy of the Month. He's very cute, so he will get many votes on his looks. Cory also probably has several newsletters ready to alert all his clients to vote in the contest. Like HooBoy says it's just a popularity contest. And Talvin's newletter proves that many people will log on the MC, who have never logged on before, to vote for him. GO CORY!;-)

I dunno...

Talvin DeMacchio is exceptionally hot looking in his photos. Cory Sport has a cute face but I don't think he's anything special. There were lots of guys last month whose looks turn me on more. Also Talvin is a "porn star" (whatever that means) and has been around long enough to develop quite a fan base; some people here don't even think Cory is a real escort.

I think the face is very intriguing. But all we see is just the face. The rest could be pure shit. Perhaps he was a Thalidomide baby :-(

And as the escort and his reviewers are somewhat suspect - why waste a vote?

coverboy votes

While it remains my understanding that I will not ever, ever, ever, ever be eligible to be a cover boy whilst I remain persistent in my desire to use only photographs with sunglasses on my nose, I have established a web site, http://www.shamelesselfpromotion.com, and for the first 4,000 people who sign-up to join the mailing list for my newsletter by clicking on the link that says run-on sentences turn me on as well as pass their mouse over my image, each and every single one of these first 4,000 new subscribers will receive, in addition to a near-daily newsletter filled with my personal higene habits, an explanation of how difficult and expensive botox has gotten in Los Angeles, an introduction to rudimentary entymology of the English language and graphic details on what I and the Twink Hos had for breakfast that day, each will get via overnight express mail the following treats: an autographed photo of Mr. Munroe's prime assets; a black jock strap worn for at least three seconds by Steve Teron, each of which is personally autographed by a member of the Fire Department of New York; Devon brand expoxy coated tit-clamps; a decorative cobalt blue bottle filled to the brim with sweat collected from Mark Dalton's brow; a 10,000 word monograph from Rex Brant entitled So You Want To Learn HTML?; a Rod Hagen Ab-Master video cassette; the opportunity to dial 1 (999) 4 TALVIN and for the paltry sum of $49.95, get to hear the former Playgirl centerfold's personal thank you massage for YOU; and if that is not enough, if you log on right this instant, you will also receive not one, not two, but THREE standard-issue, Daddy Blade approved tiny canvas tote bags emblazed with the Hoo Boy Easter Egg, suitable for the Twink Ho or young cub in your life and which also make great tote bags for amyl nitrates, personal lubricants, hair spray, and lap tops; hurry as operators are standing by NOW!
