How is the business in San Francisco for masseurs?

Is the market over saturated in San Francisco? Is D. C. a better market? New York is oversaturated and Philadelphia lags as a market for masseurs from my experience. But I will let more people to educate me about it. Thanks.

Is the masseur and escort market oversaturated in our gay capital? 

Like asking if it's oversaturated in WeHo.

 

It's not worth moving to another city, especially a very expensive one, to massage unless you are trying to stack cash in a short amount of time and are seriously working on getting into another profession.

Massage and escorting are like stripping and modeling because you most likely will make less money as you age, and our economy will not be getting any better any time soon. 

The worst the job market is, and the more "sex positive" the culture becomes, means we will have even more competition. Hell, I got into this during the last recession in 2009!

Younger guys are resorting to this type of work for fast cash, and they make the pros look bad.

 

You can try traveling or moving to another city but I would recommend having other career goals.

I lived in SF for about a year, so it would vary with how you look, how you perform, where you get to live, how you can travel around, and you also have to consider how the city's demographics have changed.

You might attract a certain group as clients the most, and you might not be okay with that.

Why I might not be okay with certain group? Last time I went to SF was 2022. It was filled with daddies. I'm beefy muscular, latino, mid 30s, handsome face.

Then you need to reconsider if you want to be in a customer facing business.  Most customers are demanding or cheap at some point.

Horny guys who expect, or at the very least will be hoping for, sex/something beyond massage (mutual touch and happy ending at least) are going to be the bulk of the clients probably. If you're planning to exclusively offer therapeutic massage only, I'd say be upfront about that on your ad so people aren't coming to you hoping for/expecting more than you offer. Will cut down on bad experiences and bad reviews from some of the more horny/demanding clients. And if you don't want cheap clients, then you'd probably need to offer more than therapeutic massage only, the higher prices come with more services usually.
