CheckCar Posted August 11 Posted August 11 For those who’ve never seen this film, it’s currently available on YouTube. Not sure how long that will last. From Wiki: Hustler White is a 1996 satiricalblack comedy film written and directed by Rick Castro and Bruce LaBruce. Starring Tony Ward, Ron Athey, Glen Meadmore, Graham David Smith and LaBruce, the film follows a group of hustlers and their customers on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. maninsoma Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Thanks for the heads up. I'm only about 15 minutes into it and I'm not sure I will watch all of it because, so far, it's quite amateurish. I will say it's quite explicit for a YouTube video, so even if it doesn't get removed for copyright reasons I could see it going away due to nudity.

I found it an interesting “time capsule” of 90s gay kink in LA. Not my vibe or scene, but still interesting to take in.
maninsoma Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I just completed watching it at 1.5 speed and still jumped forward quite a bit since the parts I watched weren't grabbing me. I know that isn't exactly a fair way to assess a film, but this really did come across as a soft-core look at kinky sex and depraved people. And that bathtub scene got me hoping that YouTube isn't reporting viewers' IP addresses to law enforcement. I don't know what the filmmakers' intent was with that scene, but given the overall vibe of the film it seemed highly inappropriate.

Rod Hagen Posted August 12 Posted August 12 (edited) My favorite Bruce LaBruce movie, thank you for posting it. Absolute favorite scene was when the blonde hustler's getting fucked by six guys, which should be an experience of a lifetime, and his beeper goes off in the middle of it, so he returns the call flat on his back, like it's nothing. We do these amazing things when we are young and totally take them for granted at the time, like the main star Tony Ward who probably took it in stride when briefly he was in Madonna's orbit. He was in Hillbilly Elegy not that long ago, he looks good. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1417207/mediaviewer/rm3251518464/?ref_=nm_ov_ph Edited August 12 by Rod Hagen la_connor 1
realeasymoney Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Always thought they should have gotten a better lead than Tony Ward. I would have driven right past.
TonyDown Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Watched it. An interesting counterculture film. I liked his film Gerontophilia. thomas and Rod Hagen 1 1

la_connor Posted Sunday at 06:16 PM Posted Sunday at 06:16 PM Did you live in Weho between 1986 and 1993? Why the fuck didn't you clue me in?! 😢 I saw so many young men checking their beepers at the gym and never knew why. And every day hot guys waved at me from street corners in the gayborhood and I thought they were hitch hikers. I really missed out. Rod Hagen 1
