BuffaloKyle Posted June 16 Posted June 16 I saw this guy's profile pop up in Buffalo and saw the following line in his ad: "I treat morbid boyfriends." What the heck... 🤣 He has a one star review as well saying he stole money. Yikes. Bramdon - Male Escort, Gay massage - Buffalo | Rent.Men + Pensant 1
nomad Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Thought it might be a lost in translation issue. But 2 of 3 reviews are negative. 🙉
Whoisyourdaddy Posted June 16 Posted June 16 South American providers have a bad habit of misinterpreting the English word morbid because it resembles similar Spanish words. Therefore, they actually mean to say horny or soft/delicate/smooth, depending on the context. (This is how a Colombian provider explained it to me.) Nue2thegame, + azdr0710 and + Pensant 2 1

Ah, normally I can kind of figure out what they mean but that one really threw me for a loop. Whoisyourdaddy and + azdr0710 2
+ azdr0710 Posted June 16 Posted June 16 the "morbid/morbido" quandary has been a periodic topic here in the forum for years......entirely a "lost in translation" thing....... one thread: https://www.companyofmen.org/topic/154588-morbid-kinky-in-ads-from-spanish-speakers/
56harrisond Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Given the negative reviews, perhaps "morbid" as stated is correct. + Pensant 1
+ PhileasFogg Posted June 16 Posted June 16 (edited) Oh! You don’t think he’s referring to Bud Cort, star of the 70’s cult classic “Harold and Maude?” Edited June 16 by PhileasFogg + Pensant 1

Take it from a native speaker “morboso” in Portuguese and Spanish is used as we would use “horny”. It does however literally translate to “morbid”. Nue2thegame, Scott Virginian and Whoisyourdaddy 2 1

Scott Virginian Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Morbido and morbo are two different words in Spanish with a weird range of meanings. Everything from soft, gentle, and deathly (morbido) to weird, kinky, disturbing, and sexy (morbo). Was going to make a snarky comment on a language where dead and horny are that close linguistically, but then I remembered the French call orgasms “la petite morte” — the little death. I actually sent him an RM message suggesting he change it before I saw this thread. I’m not sure he understood, just said ok and asked if I wanted to meet him in Buffalo.
