New Club "Red" in NYC

i noticed on the eastsideboys.com site that a new club has opened in NYC at 305 E53rd street. anyone know anything about it? it advertizes as featuring pornstars, escorts, lap dances, etc. any info would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, this is a new club above where Rounds used to be. They invited me to host a party over the holidays, but I'm not going to be in the USA. Even if I were, I'm not sure it would be all that good of an idea. :-)

Don't expect this place to be around for very long. Rounds was closed due to an asshole Superior Court judge that moved in down the street and he still lives there from what I gather. I'm sure as soon as he sees hookers running around he'll be using his authority to shut this place down as he did Rounds. What really boggles the mind is that the money behind the joint is coming from the owner of the Townhouse. I've known Paul for many years and I cannot believe he was stupid enough to sink money into something that wont last past the first of the year! So Clients and hookers beware. The place will be crawling with cops very soon I can assure you. When they went after Rounds they were arresting Clients as well a hookers.

Cathy has her ass covered, She grew up in the hood and knows 99.9% of the cops in her area. When they're doing a sting on the west side she knows about it beforehand and sends all the boys away for a few days. The east side is fed up with the hooker bars and wont allow them anymore. Every hooker bar on the east side since the closing of Rounds has lasted no more than 3 months.

I have it on very good authority that Red is being targeted for a rade and closure. My very good friend is a NYPD officer (and member of GOAL) and told me that Red is on their radar scope as many local residents have logged many, many complaints. He warned me cause he knows I like the "working boys" and told me to stay out of there. He also said there are already undercover cops "working" the room and have quietly arrested johns they picked up there, after they were outside of and away from the club. He told me that is a myth that a police officer has to tell the truth about being a cop, they WILL and legaly CAN lie about it to make an arrest.

He says when the big sting goes down NYPD will go for the publicity and release the names of the escorts and johns to the press, something they used to do years ago.

So guys, be warned!

Al, Townhouse is a pleasant bar on East 58th St. It has the feel of a gentleman's club. It draws an upscale crowd and there have always been rumors that some of the younger guys there are either looking for a sugar daddy or a john.

 

It is clearly NOT a hustler bar.

For what it's worth, a couple of the guys I've hired - usually looking early to mid twenties, blond and preppy - said they had worked The Townhouse. Never been myself.

Why so many warning advices about Red and cops? Isn't the same at Stella's an at TG where is obvious that patrons and dancers talk and deal about sexual services? Are Stella's an TG also targets for the cops?

I have a question... as an escort who has posted his photos (no face pics) and voice mail number to eastsideboys.com, should i have anything to worry about when the NYPD makes its raid? will they seize computers as well and go after escorts who've posted thier info to the site?? im somewhat concerend..

Oh. let's all be afraid. Very afraid! Could someone please cite me one PROVEN example of an escort bust out of the Gaiety or Stella's, not to mention Red's?

So far, it is all talk, no proof. I would like to hear the specific escort or client who was busted tell us what happened and when. No secondhand stories please, just the facts direct from the holder thereof!

I am not a New York attorney, so don't know all the rules and laws, but I can't imagine you can get in trouble just with an ad. That is freedom of speech. Now if they use your ad to set up a sting for you, and you bite, that is another story. I would recommend you use normal caution in meeting with clients.

I agree with Sean. It will be closed down quickly. The real estate is

too expensive for the neighbors to allow a hustler bar (even if

claims to be high class) to happen. It isn't the what goes on in the

bar; it's what happens outside. The guys they throw out and don't let

who hang out outside.

 

It is a shame. Rounds was really great in it hey day. Guys use to come

in from around the world to it - by word of mouth. Cocktail hour was

great fun, even if the boys weren't there yet. Unfortunately the

political climate won't support it now.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Tampa. One of these days people will start listening to me. Yes, this is my territory. I lived in that neighborhood for over 5 years. I went to Rounds often. I was very and I mean VERY close friends with the owner Charlie and (God rest his soul) Seymore who died from Aids in the early 80's. After Seymore's death Charlie took over operations and pretty much ran the place into the ground. Charlie was BI polar. Charlie would come in in one of his moods and if he didn't like the way you looked he'd tell you to get the fuck out of the bar. All the boys that he threw out became fixtures on the corners harassing passerby's. Then low and behold this asshole superior judge moved in on the corner of 51st and Second Ave. He took over the penthouse of a friend of mine. He would come home from a long day in court and would be stopped constantly by these guys that Charlie threw out of the bar. Within 6 weeks of this judge moving in Rounds was closed. My X lover has 2 condo's on that same street and is also on the community board. I spoke with him recently and as of the last community board meeting there have been over 650 complaints filed since Dec 6th. Several coming from the bar that took over Rounds which is a straight club now. I'll bet any of you that Club Red will not last past Feb. Now you wanna tempt fate and wind up in jail when they raid the place? Go right ahead but don't say I didn't warn ya!

I don't get to New York frequently -- but always visit the Townhouse when I do. Have met some very nice working guys -- they tend to be mostly students, actors or dancers.

 

Also, Aaron Lawrence writes in his first book that he frequently fished for clients at the Townhouse.

I'm not trying to hurt Red's business, I just know that this neighborhood WILL NOT ALLOW this bar to survive. It took them over 20 years to get rid of Rounds and they're not going to allow another hooker bar. I would love nothing more than another Rounds to open and survive, I really enjoyed myself there and met some great guys. Made a small fortune as well I prefer meeting guys face to face having a couple cocktails and then back to my place for some fun. I use to live on 53rd between 2nd and 3rd Ave so it was in a word "convenient"

I agree with Sean. Rounds was a great place and I got to know many of the guys over a few years. And there were some great looking, sexy and friendly guys. It was comfortable inside and you could get to know the guys over a drink and then home for fun. I met Sean there and had some fun times with him at his apartment and in my place downtown.

 

Outside was a different story, with hustlers on the corners - often strung out and hassling bypassers. So its demise was inevitable. And RED will likely go the same way. Shame. We need a worthy successor to Rounds.

I've heard through the grapevine that my post concerning Club Red has hurt their business which was not my intention AT ALL and I apologize to Paul and Michael for that. I would love nothing more for the joint to succeed. I was just expressing my concern for Clients as well as fellow working boys. Spending the night in jail is not a pleasant experience. Although I still have concerns I have been assured from someone in management that this club is not Rounds and that they are doing everything in their power to keep it a safe and pleasant place to go to. Preventing hookers from hanging around on the corners which is one of the reasons Rounds was closed and if they accomplish that I think the place has a shot. I sent my X lover in the other night as I'm at my home in LA and he said the place was very nice and he enjoyed himself. I think that if the management keeps the trash off the streets and keeps it running very discreetly it just may work. Also with Rudi gone and well you know the rest! Anyway give it a shot. Hookers use your gut instincts when talking to someone in a bar and if all goes well we'll have a nice place on the East side to work. Again my apoligies to Paul and Micheal

The owners may be nice guys, but the fact remains as you reported there are almost 700 complaints on the club, from the neighbors and the straight club downstairs, regardless of whether the owners can keep the street hustlers off of the street ( very difficult, I think even with the best intentions) the glaring fact remains that everyone knows what the reason is for going there is ( direct fault of the owner's HEAVY promotion), including the police and I know for a fact that is a target for a raid and there are undercover cops ALREADY in there as I have been warned by my friend. I understand that you might feel guilty for your original oppinions, but they were TRUTHFUL and FACTUAL!

It seems to that the owners were not very wise regarding the opening of this club...they did everything wrong...this is not Splash or the New Eagle....all the heavy pre and post opening promo is what is going to get this club closed and clients and escorts arrested. It should have been handled like an underground club and word of mouth is the best advertising, its not YOUR postings that have hurt their business, its that most people have common sense and using their own judgement. (Even Hoo Boy said he didn't want to host the opening) Its only natural that business is hurting- this club is not on 30th street and 11th ave..its in the heart of the Upper East Side with a Supreme Court Judge, living on that block...the same one who closed Rounds and its not a question of IF its going to be Raided and Closed but WHEN, and I don't want to take a chance that it might happen on my night there.

Reds has already been closed. It was overun by a group of wild chickens. There is a new club there now called Club Wimp. it is for those who are afraid to be seen anywhere near the company of an escort.

Unfortunately, nothing happens at the bar, since the management did not want to make the customers nervous if there was a police raid. Apparently some people think that if the club got raided, they would go to jail even though they were just having a drink in a place where it is legal to have a drink.

The Christmas Party has been canceled by the club as its Muslim and Jewish customers were afraid to attend. They do hope to have a closet case ball soon for their regulars.

To set the record straight:

MAXIMUM ESCORTS IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH RED IN ANY WAY.

 

I must apologize to Matt for any confusion that was caused by e-mails, which were sent out concerning this Thursday’s party.

 

Matt had allowed Red to use Maximum's name on our invitation, as this weeks star performer - Troy Boy - was also working as a guest escort for Maximum. The only permission Red was given was to use the Maximum logo on the invitation.

 

Yesterday, however an overzealous employee of the club proceeded to send out e-mails and IM's to screen names of people he found in various AOL Chat Rooms. The messages may have appeared to some as an invitation from Maximum. That was not the intention of the message.

 

I know Matt personally and can assure everyone that neither he nor Maximum would ever send out bulk e-mails or release the names of Maximums clients to anyone. Maximum has an excellent reputation, is extremely reliable, discrete and represents some of New York's finest escorts. Discretion and the confidentiality of his clients is most important to him.

 

Once again I want to state that the messages were sent to screen names that were found in AOL chatrooms by an employee of Red. Maximum did not supply any names or information concerning their clients to Red and was not in any associated with the e-mails & IM's.
