I always ask for a short video chat before getting with anyone for the first time ... I've never regretted it but have regretted when I haven't done it. And I don't see why hiring someone from rentmen is safer than from mintboys - we've all read about dangerous dishonest guys on rentmen, and I've met a few very nice and satifying guys from mintboys. Vetting on videocall from either site seems like a good precaution ... not foolproof of course but you can get a lot of information from a short video chat.

I trust RM a lot more for many reasons. First you have to pay for a provider ad even a basic one. There is also the ability to verify your photos and has built in video chat for additional verification along with reviews. Mintboys is free to post a basic ad and has nothing else as I mentioned RM does.

Intuitively, you’re right.  And since I hire for overnights and weekends, I always do a call as well.   But my experience with RM guys is consistently better than guys on MB

In fact, if I see a guy who advertises on both, it kinda signals to me that they’re past their RM prime and trying to take the shot gun approach for exposure
