I know Numbers closed although I'm not sure when. But I was wondering if there were any equivalent places in LA to meet 'working guys.'

I don't know why I'm asking as I most likely won't get to LA again. But I was remembering past threads. And many members here spoke of it fondly.

Do you work hard to start threads that will mean nothing to you? You are not going to LA, so why bother?

Actually this is the first one. But thanks for asking.

Yes, I remember discussing hustler bars in general and Numbers in particular. But I think the consensus was that these seem to be a thing of the past. Rentmen and Grinder have replaced the old "greet the meat" approach to hooking up. That, along with the dearth of male stripper bars (at least in DC) makes me sometimes wonder whatever happened to the sexual revolution. Did we lose?

Online interaction has reduced demand for gay bars for socializing. I think the same holds true for gay bars intended for business introductions. (The rent is too damn high, part 276)

Agreed!

@Gar1eth nowadays we all have something called iPhone and plenty of ways to use it to look for company without having to go to bars. Even guys who go to bars sometimes check guys n their phones.

I lived in LA from 92-94 and loved Numbers. Met so many interesting folks there...both working men and regulars.
I was lamenting with a friend of the days when you could go to a bar, and engage in brief conversation and then make a connection.

The current rigmarole of texting and waiting for a reply, which often doesn't come, and then hoping the person doesn't flake! <sigh>

In New York now, and wish there still was an Uncle Charlies...(or even Stellas) to go on a Thursday night. LOL

I'm sure more entrepreneurs will come up with the idea of more no iPhone bars just like there are restaurants that have banned them.

D.C.’s newest bar has a restriction that might make a lot of us feel naked: no cellphones.
