They should be fine even after months or years if you keep them in a glass jar in a cool place, so there's no rush to use them. I don't have any recipes but Google is your friend. Here's a start.
Bargara Leatherboy Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Beef Wellington is a good place to start. Just don't use a dehydrator ......... mike carey 1
mike carey Posted August 17 Posted August 17 And here's to you Mrs Patterson! (A dehydrator is fine, just make sure you're not filmed taking it to the dump.) Bargara Leatherboy 1
Buddy15 Posted August 17 Posted August 17 I always use a handful when making mushroom barley soup. I soak them in boiling water and then add the mushrooms and liquid.

Dried shiitakes are much stronger than fresh. I used them more as a flavoring than as an ingredient. I add a few to stocks, soups and stews if I have them around.
pubic_assistance Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Dried shitake are great for simple pasta dishes. Just reconstitute them in a little water mixed with white wine . Pan fry garlic and shallots in olive oil, add the mushrooms, then simmer, add chopped parsley or basil. Serve over pasta. cany10011 and + poolboy48220 2
