I wonder if it's better sometimes to wait until the day of to reach out to higher rate guys like him. Because if you get quoted that rate and then say it's a bit above my price range you're more likely to get a counter rate if he's had no other potential clients reach out that day.

That makes sense, i reached out early because I figured he'd book up quickly. But now that I know the rate I'm sure he won't unless he finds an oil tycoon or something.
