Streisand to release a 'multi part' documentary on her life

I guess writing and releasing a nearly 1,000 page memoir last year (that failed to live up to sales expectations, to say the least) wasn't enough 'sharing' for the once 'very private' Barbra Streisand.

Streisand made a surprise announcement this past week, telling fans she is working on a 'multi-part documentary' covering her life and career of the past 60+ years.  The 82 year old EGOT winner says she has so much stuff 'vaulted', she thought it was the right time to pull everything out and share it with her fans. She's hired some highly notable producers to help put it together, as well.

She doesn't say when this will be released or where, but I'm certain she will be angling for another - and final - Oscar.  Stay tuned !

Too bad she never got to play Mama Rose in Gypsy. Would have been interesting to see her in that role.

Well the role was written for  Ethel Merman.  I saw  Merman in  Gypsy twice

Once on  Broadway and once on the road on the road in Boston

Enough said

Merman was sensation

It would be nice to know what she thought of Pierre Trudeau in bed. Given his son is now Prime Minister like his late dad, she might keep her lips sealed.

I liked the story where Pierre snuck her out of his official residence in Ottawa by having her hide on the floor in the back of his limo with a blanket over her.

I wonder if it'll be released before January? Or is she going to make it abroad since she had been making "threats" of leaving the country if her candidate and party didn't win the elections? I honestly don't believe she or others will go anywhere, but who knows? Anything at her age to stay relevant and in the media's spotlight. Not a lot of people from her generation left and most younger generations don't really know who she is! Unlike Madonna and Cher that have reinvented themselves and kept their music current and playing on the radio, Babs style has gone out several decades ago and I can't remember when I last heard a song or hit of hers play anywhere! Maybe it was the 80's? I know she made a sad attempt of a duet with Celine Dion. Those that had any interest were fans of Celine who was still popular after her Las Vegas Shows success. Anyhow, it'd be interesting to see what comes of this all!

I have never heard or read Streisand make such a 'threat' ever. I have heard her say in interviews over the past 24 years of how much she loves her home in LA and her country. Can you link to a (reliable) source where she made this statement ? I'd like to read what she had to say.

Thanks !

I'll have to look back and see if I can find anything from the news she's been saying in these past months! But she's been saying it longer. When I find something, I let you know.

Just a quick search turned up dozens for all the talk shows and hosts, interviews quoting her!

The only celeb I know (so far) who moved out of the country was actress Eva Longoria, who now resides in both Spain and Mexico (but is still a US citizen) this past summer. She still owns property in the US, but is not living there or planning on moving back any time soon. She was interviewed the other day.

Thanks ! I missed some of her interviews last year when she was promoting her memoir, and never heard these quotes from the Colbert interview.

They are so many more too! I've been hearing them for the past four years but especially in these past months. Now that said, she never left last time and neither did any of the others in 2016. Years ago, only Tina Turner quietly left for Switzerland. Yes, she'd come back to work in the USA from time to time because after all, this is where most of her fan base was and where she made most of her money! But she did live permanently in Switzerland and did get Swiss Citizenship. And all without explaining reasons or making a big deal out of it. She never called out a politician nor the country. She put her money where her mouth was and quietly left! THAT, I can respect even though she became Tina Turner and rich and famous in the USA and because mostly of the American fans.

The Goddess has spoken.
And yes children, that is how goddesses speak.
Softly but clearly.
Truly the greatest of all time.

RIP.

Streisand?
What bag of hot air.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, loudmouth.

Turner had moved to Switzerland many years ago, for numerous reasons (none of them over who was President of the USA). One reason was financial, the other was her career (which waned in the US by the 1990s, but not in Switzerland).

A lot of the celebrities I have heard the past week have said America is in a 'fight or flight' frame of mind, and the ones I've heard on TV are staying to fight for America.

😂 They've all made their millions and fame in America. Abroad most have very little chance having any type of career or at least not on the same level as in the USA. World Tours and retirement and keeping a seasonal residence somewhere is what they can look forward outside the USA. There are exceptions, Babs who has no career anymore but running her mouth on talk shows about Trump for which she gets paid for. Tom Hanks was given honorary citizenship in Greece years ago and he owns a small island there. His career is winding down so retirement seems logical. Why he keeps saying he'll go to Canada is beyond me when he has Greece! Then there are a few like LaToya Jackson who while never really had much of a career in the USA, she does have quite a following in Japan and in Europe. But I've never heard her say she's leaving the USA! It'll be interesting though to see who actually leaves this time since none did last time they made idle treats in 2016. Cher then and not long ago repeated the "threat" to "blow her brains out if Trump won" (we should be so lucky)! It'll be interesting who goes where and does what during this self-imposed exile. They all are certainly rich enough to go and do whatever they like, unlike the average American that is stuck with whatever the government does regardless of party in power.

She would be better off making a one-part one, to the point and interesting throughout. It's imperative for her ego to get a reality check.

The transgender red carpet events interviewer whose name escapes me as well as Ellen are the only two Hollywood people to actually carry through with departing the U.S.A. from what I've seen. I knew of a non-famous musician (Chantel Claret) that David Letterman was a big fan of who moved to New Zealand 8 years ago for political reasons, and loves it there.

Just FYI, Ellen bought her property in the Cotswolds before the election.

It makes for a dramatic departure story, but I’m not sure this one counts. And does she really think that UK politics are that much better than the US? I think she may be in for a rude awakening.

PS I’m jealous as hell. I’d love to live in the Cotswolds.

Interesting she didn't choose Australia where her wife is from!

I think Australia's very nice. Beautiful people and beautiful country. I've always had a nice impression of them. They are getting fed up with some of their 3rd world immigrants just like the UK is, but that wouldn't affect Ellen being an American lesbian and multi-millionaire.
