jeezifonly Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Brian Jordan Alvarez has seemingly struck gold with his new series. ”English Teacher” on FX. He’s been a reliable source of online laughs for me on YT and the Twitz - his extreme filter characters kill me - but this writing, the unforced gay theme, and his cast assembly brings realness to the funny. I’ve crushed on him since he played the sex-worker in Special. He’s put in the work, and I hope this makes him a star. ⭐️

Thankfully, it has been long enough that I was able to watch him without throwing up from the memory of his portrayal of Yack's indescribably annoying husband on the horrifically awful final final season of Will and Grace Edited September 4, 2024 by samhexum Because accuracy about nauseating things is always important.

samhexum Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Season finale tonight. It hasn't been picked up or cancelled yet.
Ali Gator Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Just started watching this tonight. I'm on the fence with this. I'm finding it borrows a lot from 'Glee', but tries too hard to be funny. I'm not liking the main character, as I never liked Brian Jordan Alvarez . I'll give it a few more episodes.
TonyDown Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 I want to see this! I have always liked Brian Jordan Alvarez. So funny. He was on Morning Joe this morning. Sounds like the NYT gave some good press. Love his wacky, clever YT content. I see English Teacher brought some of the players from "Gay and Wondrous Life...." I hope the jealous gays don't come for him. 😉 ...or the antigay crowd thomas 1
Manhattan Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I think the show is pretty funny. It's a good sign that the show makes fun of super "woke" values. The weak link is Alvarez. He's not charming or appealing or attractive enough to play the lead. This is what happens when writers insist on starring in their own material. samhexum and Marc in Calif 1 1
samhexum Posted February 6 Posted February 6 FX is on the verge of renewing freshman comedy English Teacher for a second season, multiple sources confirm to TVLine exclusively. We hear that production is tentatively set to resume later this month.

Poor Will... shacked up with the awful Grace in a suburban hellhole raising their kids together. I imagine that McCoy got wise and ran for the hills.
