I’ve done a significant amount of sexting via Facebook messenger in the past and never had an issue… I think you should be safe on there as long as you don’t bring up any illegal activity.

ah messenger, myspace, msn... brings backs memories 😅

Old fashion as in clubs and parks and bars, YES!

I know that it is mostly the nostalgic memory of being younger and hot (I used to be both, lol), but how cool was to cruise in a bar where plenty of men where there in flesh and bones, and some would exchange eye contact and desire you, or in some cool park at night (I will never forget the Park by the Hilton Hotel overlooking the ocean during warm summer nights in Tel Aviv!) that feeling of spotting a hot guy, noticing that he spotted you too, and following him in the bushes...!

When I discovered Grindr (perhaps 12/13 years ago?) it was quite fascinating to realize that you could cruise with a cellphone knowing there were (potential..) hot guys near you, but as everything that has to do with social apps and websites, everything has become so virtual, impersonal and most of the time fake...

I open grindr but I mostly use instagram and lately tiktok. A different younger crowd.

How can you meet someone from tiktok?

The site is monitored heavily.

I asked the same question in a previous post about meeting from tiktok but I never got an answer.

This whole thread should be retitled 'Why We Need To Continue To Support Bathhouses'

They exist and are sadly dying off because of an oddly prudish new generation.

I do not think their issue is being prudish. Do you read Italian or Spanish? Sorry, unfortunately the book is not yet translated to English. Although the author leaves a lot of questions unanswered, it is an interesting read.

I send a message. If he accepts it we chat and eventually arrange to meet. Some did not accept the first message, others after the first few messages showed no interest. It doesn't work for all.

I've been using TikTok for about a month. I am now chatting with 4-5 people. I've met one, I will meet a second one and I am still chatting with the other two.

Spanish, yes.

I've added it to my cart.

The description does sound interesting.

He throws some interesting ideas, but is not very good at rounding them up. It worths reading, specially if you are not looking for one single cause to explain the drop in sexual encounters.

I re-downloaded Grindr a few days ago and had to delete it again because it is now making sounds on its own even while my phone is locked (and my settings are to not receive notifications).  When my phone is making the refresh sound and a new grunt sound at random times even hours after closing the app (and there was no possible notification it could have been), something has to be wrong with the app.

I remember back in 2011 when Grindr was a much more decent place to meet dudes. It was still fairly new, and the vibe was different—more kind, human and genuine. The app felt like a platform where you could connect with decent guys through location/nearby who were looking to hang out, chat, or even form relationships, work out, etc, I met the parents of a couple of guys back then, we planned dates, dinners with friends, etc. The weirder crowd, the slightly crazy or sketchy characters, were still hanging around on Craigslist at that time, where things were a lot more hit-or-miss and often felt a bit sketchy.

Fast forward to 2024, but even 2023, and Grindr feels like it’s done a complete 180. Now, it’s become almost worse than Craigslist ever was—full of chaotic energy, people who throw insults gratuitiously, and surely unfriendly questionable behavior. The conversations have gotten less human, and it seems like the people using the app are a lot more mental health wise poor. The sense of casual, respectful interaction that once existed has been drowned out by an overwhelming flood of bizarre demands, rude behavior, and extremes, people who are obviously unwell, but keep on the app like its crack. It’s hard to even recognize the app as the same one from 2011. The shift over the years has been dramatic, and Grindr now feels like a wild, unpredictable space, where you'll be insulted for no reason, people will come at you without you reaching to them, you're more likely to encounter insanity than genuine connections of once upon a time.

Yes, it was different but the main reason for guys to be on Grindr was looking for sex.

Most folks are just browsing, killing time, getting likes/approval and rarely actually looking. Bots do happen and are easily recognizable.

Now is a hit of miss, many are looking for something out of their league while others settle for whoever is nearby, available and compatible.

For those with the free version, ever notice that the first few rows of profiles over the XTRA line, i.e., the nearest ones you would supposedly see if you have a paid version, usually include about a half dozen of the hottest guys on earth?  LOL  I bet that, if I paid, for some reason I'd see an entirely different group of guys.
