ericwinters Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 I'm considering a new opportunity in Baltimore. I don't know much about it other than it has a long standing gay'ish neighborhood and that it is super easy to take Acela to DC, NYC & Philly (oh and I love crab). Like most large cities I'm a bit skewed by media... I'm in LA and Philly often and just don't think it is as bad as the media depicts. Is that true for Baltimore for anyone who has been spending time there recently? Any current feedback on Baltimore?

+ azdr0710 Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 when you have several minutes, nice little article....... Are We Still Charm City? - Baltimore Magazine WWW.BALTIMOREMAGAZINE.COM We wrestle with the complicated legacy of our town’s most enduring nickname. ericwinters, thomas and + Pensant 2 1
NJF Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 Just talked recently with an acquaintance who lives in B’more. It can be tricky but nice neighborhoods still exist in the city. You may need some trusted locals or a dedicated realtor. thomas and ericwinters 2
+ Pensant Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Roland Park is still pretty nice, I believe. caramelsub and ericwinters 1 1
NiceGuysAlwaysAppreciated Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Lots of great areas, and good food and a good vibe are possible. The issue is the poverty and xlinconoetebt government. For living, it’s cheaper than other places, and, despite the increased traffic, you can get anywhere you’d like (beach, mountains, Philly, NYC, DC) easily.

There's never a guarantee of safety or happiness in any place. There are safer areas and less safer areas. Like any city, Baltimore has its good and bad areas, and "gayborhoods" are dying (using the excuse of acceptance and equity to invade valuable areas that we were once able to consider ours).
