I can't really hire anymore. But I look at Rentmen frequently due to not having many real life encounters lately.   There are lots of reasons why I'm not having many 'encounters' lately, but that  would be an  entirely different thread.

I happened to peruse one escort's ad the other day. And I noticed that a miracle had happened. He had suddenly regained his HIV negative status. At least I'm 98% sure that he had advertised being positive for years and years in the past. I'm not really shocked by this, and I know most of y'all won't be either. We all know it happens. I'm not even quite sure why I'm starting a thread on it. #1. Maybe I just want to caution any new members out there to always be careful, or #2. maybe it's just that it's 5 AM, and I haven't been to sleep yet. And I'm bored.

Well after a slight bit of thought, I've decided to think well of myself and decide it's choice #1. What a relief!!

Night All!!

Well with being a provider,  I always try and be candid,  honest and straightforward with any assertions made in an ad.

However,  I think every person needs to approach an ad on Rentmen with some degree of suspicion.  Of course,  reviews help to negate some of the doubts, but I would think it better to go into an escort booking process with the reality that all may not be as it seems.      Then you get to write a review!

My thoughts: I agree about not discussing any kind of personal (protected in USA) health information of providers, though I think it's ok discussing the issue without mentioning names or identifiable information. I also think that there are plenty of advances in the treatment of HIV, where in some cases, it has become not a life threatening chronic condition. That's definitely far from it converting into HIV-, but with proper care it's no longer the issue it once was.

I also agree that any advertisement always stretches, exaggerates, or manipulates facts and truths. In this line of work there is in fact a lot of false advertisement on both sides, that is, some clients do lie to their bones about them or about what they can offer. There's always been a level of risk in this, and in fact, a great deal of why a site like this exists is precisely to verify information that clients and providers give.

Gar1eth: Best wishes, and hopefully your condition puts you back able to hire and play.

Thank you for this reminder.  I like the way you handled this issue with appropriate privacy and yet reminding of risk factors.

In this case, it is the provider who changed their status publicly, not the  OP.  There is a lot of talk above about privacy and so forth but is this any different than discussing when a provider publicly changes their height or endowment?  It is the provider who is changing their stats, not the client.  I agree that none of us has the right to expose someone else's status but if the provider themselves is making (or previously made) it public, why can't it be discussed?  In today's world, once you go public with anything, the record will exist forever.   If the provider specifically showed he was positive in the past, that means he was fine with his clients knowing that.   It sounds like he may now have changed his mind but at this point, the cat is already out of the bag.  A lot of providers show negative as their status because they are non-detectable and now that we know U=U, they probably have no issue in doing so.
