noisepup Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Hey guys!! I'm a filmmaker here in LA currently working on a project featuring Numbers and I'd absolutely love the opportunity to interview anyone willing. Just getting your experiences of some people who were around at the time and went to Numbers. I'd ideally like to film it but it can definitely remain anonymous if you prefer. Shoot me a message here or you can reach me by email [email protected]
ericwinters Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I miss that place and so many have passed. I was not a provider or consumer, but had lots of older uncle types I hung out with. And they had some of the best food as a gay restaurant...

It is a part of our collective gay culture and these stories need to be told. I am only sorry I can’t contribute as I never visited Numbers on my few visits to LA during its heyday. Sometime in 2005 or 2006 (?).😖 I believe I was at that dinner too! But we hadn’t met yet so I just remember a big table full of people I didn’t know. I attended stag and was so scared. It was the first Hooboy event I’d attended. At one point I went to the restroom and some of the other escorts were there. Nobody said anything to each other! Just peed and washed our hands in silence. I guess none of us knew each other and thought better of introducing ourselves. Fortunately I was sitting next to a very friendly guy who ended up hiring me on another trip I made to LA, so I can say I was able to do one little number at Numbers lol. Too bad the place is gone, really the end of an era. + Vegas_Millennial, + Oliver and ericwinters 3
ericwinters Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Didn't Tony and his other half vehemently want to have "THE" in front of Numbers? I remember being scolded and corrected on more than one occasion. LOL

Whether arriving on foot or for valet parking, you entered on the second floor in the back, which was ground level for the back of the building, owing to the hill those businesses were built on. The bar was downstairs on the first floor, with no access (that I can recall) from the street front. And there was a "grand" spiral staircase to take you down to your land of hopes and dreams where the food, booze, and boys awaited your arrival. The "long" bar -it was something of a smaller space so, like other things there, was only as long as it could get - and yes, that is a metaphor - was on your left as you entered and red-leather upholstered booths were along the right wall. At the far end of the bar was a small open area with space for leaning against the walls so sellers could better display their merchandise to interested buyers. Damn! I miss those days! nate_sf, + azdr0710, DaveOrDavid and 2 others 4 1
