It is good to see that more and more escorts show their faces in their ads and profiles these days. This makes it so much easier for us clients. An escort can be body perfect and be hung like a horse, but if the face is not quite what the client expects, the session could be a disappointment. With the face pic, what you see is what you get.

 

I admire guys who are not afraid to show their faces. This comes across to me as someone who is proud of himself and his chosen career. I understand though why other escorts choose not to.

 

For those of you who proudly post your face pics, what has been the effect of this on you? Have you been mobbed by fans or the paparazzi? Do you get recognized on the street and approached? Have you had any bad experiences because of this? Do you ever regret having done so?

I've shown my face ever since I started escorting. I've been recognized out at clubs a couple times, although I think they recognized me from porn work I had done, not from escorting.

 

I understand why some people can not/will not show their faces. But I think overall that the more escorts are willing to be up front and open about what they do, the more acceptance this profession will get. I've had a number of friends who held less than savory opinions about escorts, but once they found out I was one and that I led a normal and healthy life, they changed their tune and now consider it a legit and valid way of making a living.

For me, in hiring, it's all about the face. The body is important too but the face is more so. I will not hire an escort if he doesn't show his face. He may describe himself as VGL but he may not be VGL to me.

I recall one situation where the guy did not show his face in his ads or on his website… and this is understandable… However, based on his reviews (and this emphasizes the importance of reviews) I knew that he was indeed quite striking.

 

However, what blew my mind was when I subsequently found out he was concurrently doing modeling for a very X-rated business enterprise located in San Francisco that had face shots of him plastered all over their website… and in one instance actually utilized (however inadvertently) his legitimate first name!

Lee. My thinking has always been, that "Looks" are Definitely in the eye of the beholder.

A 10 to one guy can be a 6 to another..Most Definitely!

 

As Whip said, I also know of "Working Guy's" who do have Head Shots, Modeling etc on the Web, that are kept separate from their Advertising, because that is not what they are "Selling" at the time!

 

But I also know of Guy's, even on this site, Who may slightly resemble a not so Good Looking or Young Actor, and would just as soon not be compared to his looks, when it comes to Selling their Services.

So in this case, Privacy is not Their main issue. IMHO of course..:7

I am not a big proponent of face shots, maybe fifth on my list of important things. I have hired plenty of successful escorts without full face shots Steven Draker, Juan and Kevin, Danny Cruz just to name a few. I don't feel that I need to publish my face picture. I am more than happy with the business I get. Also I travel quite a bit, sometimes with clients and it would be wiser to keep their privacy when I'm with them.

Face shots are not that big a requirement for me. I appreciate that some escorts want to maintain a certain level of discretion. Some may have "regular jobs" that would be jeopardized if they published a face shot. It’s happened to more than a few guys I am sure.

 

Currently, one of the guys I see on a regular basis is completing his schooling and making plans for more "legit work" in the future. He is in the process of moving his face shots off his web site and other sites as well. His retirement is likely a few years down the road but he is transitioning things now so that he has a greater level of privacy in the future.

My experience is that the face is always supporting the business. clients wants to know in advance who they are going to meet. They don´t want surprises.

I do a lot of advertisement on the web and local gay papers. Of course people recognize me when I go out. Usually I have a lot of attention. People come up to me and ask me if I am the guy in the magazine or the guy from rentboy.com. Sometimes they recognise me and call me the day after and book an appointment.

I always let the public know about the bars I frequent. I have never had a bad experience with that.

 

I can understand that part time escorts don´t like showing their face in the public because of their main job or studies. But why do full time escorts hide their faces? I have never understood this.

The face is the most important part of the body. I don´t wanna fuck a guy whose face I have to cover with a pillow. Maybe one of the escorts here on this website can explain the reasoning.

I have to agree, however, as I would never hire an escort, who didn't provide a face pic, as to me anyway, the face is the one physical feature that is most important to me. To me, the answer to your question is really simple. From my experience, there are two different types of full-time escorts. For purposes of differentiation I am going to call them "The Sexual Celebrity" and "The Professional Companion".

When we begin to escort we choose which one of those catergories we belong to. Most of us make this choice totally unaware, because most of us knew beforehand what is it that we wanted to be.

Let me explain the difference between the two, so you clearly understand what I am talking about.

 

The "Sexual Celebrity" is close to a porn-star. Normally whoever chooses to be this type of escort are very outgoing guys. Really beautiful men who will do whatever it is in their power to get exposure: Porn, magazine editorials, personal websites, active participation in related message centres. Some of them have even business cards with picture and their escort name on them. This type of escort thrive on attenton and publicity. Clients and the public alike lust after them, want to know about them, read about them, and of course, hire them for periods of time to experience in-the-flesh all these amazing men have to offer. Sometimes, the best assets of these delicious men are their sexual talents, and the prowesses that they are capable of are astounding.

 

On the other hand, the "Professional Companion" does whatever is in his power to be discreet; he will not share his face picture, he will only be known as an escort by the ones who have hired him in the past. This type of escort -who can be as hot and beautiful as the sexual celebrity- is normally hired for longer periods of time to accompany a man or a woman. Sometimes this type of escort speaks several languages, has a very good education and their ability to keep conversation interesting and passionate is remarkable. They are hired to go to public functions where the client needs a respectable-looking companionship, someone who nobody will assume -or know as a fact- is an escort. The fact that people don't know his face works in his advantage, since not every client wants to be seen with a celebrity in the sex industry.

 

Both types of course have to be beautiful, physically fit, intelligent, sexually attractive and talented guys. They just choose to stress different aspects of their product.

 

Also, I personally know three really beautiful escorts who never show their face. They work in the entertainment industry and they could be sued if their escorting activities were made public. They have never feared that their clients would dislike their faces, since they're very handsome men.

 

In my personal case I have never shown my face. I have never sent it in a mail. I have never sent my clients to see a private face-pic link. And still fortunately, I have always been very busy. I have been turned down by a few one-hour appointments when they find out that they can't see my face beforehand, and I have been hired in a three week trip without having seen my face...

 

I have always offered that if the second a client sees my face he doesn't like it (If I remind him of his ex, I look like someone he hates or he simply deems me plain ugly), all he has to do is say "No thanks" and I will gladly go away without asking for a dime or a reason.

I have never been taken on this offer. Although I am totally open to the posibility that someday I won't be someone's type, and then I will happily go away. (I rather having a relieved acquaintance than an unhappy client.)

 

My whole point, Lars, is that even if we belong to the same profession, our professional choices -and goals- are completely different. I personally find both styles of escorting very hot and fun. I have friends who are good examples of both, and I do know that we cater to totally different needs. We are contacted and hired by really different types of clients to provide different services.

I have to disagree that we all have to fall into these two set categories. You make it out that an escort who shows his face is out for fame and celebrity status while someone who does not is about the true pleasure and discretion of a client and I think that is completely unfair. Just because I am open enough to show my face on my website does not mean that I can not hold the utmost of discretion in an appointment with a client.

 

The entire writing of your response made it out that those who do not show their faces are to directly quote you "speaks several languages, has a very good education and their ability to keep conversation interesting and passionate is remarkable". Those are completely unfair generalizations and I'm sorry, but I find it somewhat offensive to be told that because I put a face picture up that I fall into the "less educated" escort category.
