Thank you for posting this.  As a New Yorker, I found this article very interesting.  It is all about female and, to a lesser extent, transgender sex workers. 

I would have liked to hear a view on male sex workers.  I have hired for 30+ years but never seen trafficked male sex workers or underage male sex workers.  The pimps, I have seen as a handful of escorting agencies but they are all of out business.  The dynamics of the male side of the business seem to be quite different from what is described in this article.

Why is illegal to sell -or rent- that which you can give away for free?

The main reason street prostitution is targeted by police is the collateral crime that comes with it, such as drug sales/use, robbery, and assaults. I, too, miss the days of hustlers on the avenues, but moving inside and to the internet has taken some of the heat off the business, and that's a good thing.
