Had a relaxing session with Ivan this week. He’s a fit and handsome Latino. He checked in on pressure preferences, though the touch stayed pretty light and repetitive throughout. He focused a lot on my head and neck, which was a welcome addition. Left feeling satisfied.

Does anyone have any recent experience with Artem, Ivan or Mike? I don't see Ivan or Mike on the roster, so I'm curious what they look like.

How do the 4 hands work here?  I've never been, but given the feedback from so many I'm sorely tempted. Just not sure of this particular place's protocol. DMs are fine if you prefer.

Nobody?

Okay so I bit the bullet on Artem… I will not repeat. Nothing was good about this experience. Every moment was dull and just going through the motions. He was kind and nice but hit me right in the self esteem and asked for a tip, which was the first time that’s ever happened to me and I’ve been visiting HK/27 for a while. I also know they aren’t supposed to ask for tips so that didn’t feel great. Before that I had Andoni and he was excellent and would highly recommend and would repeat.

Based on recent reviews here, it seems that even when customers email or try to get the manager’s attention, nothing changes. No one seems to care. This should really be reported to 311. They just talk, but the massage therapists continue doing whatever they want

Please trust that we are already doing our best to make our spa better. We pay attention to every positive and negative review from our customers, and we make improvements based on the feedback. However, we have our own standards for deciding whether or not to terminate an employee.

You mentioned your issue was not resolved and asked me to fire Adem. My answer is: I will not fire Adem, because many other customers appreciate and enjoy his service. Another reason is that the complaint you provided about your experience with him was vague and unclear.

If you are very dissatisfied with that particular session, we are willing to offer you a refund. If you don’t feel comfortable seeing him again, you are welcome to choose another therapist or visit a different spa.

Most of our staff here are young people in their early 20s, and it’s natural for young people to make mistakes. I hope everyone can be more understanding and patient with them. Especially during this difficult time, they truly need this job.

As you may have noticed, there have been changes in our schedule, and for those employees who have seriously crossed the line, we have taken termination measures as well.

Kudos! I joined this site over 2 years ago. I read backwards 2-3 months to get a picture about many of the masseurs at the Manhattan spas. I DM'ed people to learn more details. Only one masseur at 27 Men's Spa was unprofessional (he no longer works there, but not even because I filed a complaint as I just moved on to someone else). There was also someone at Grandee who almost injured me, and they waited to make sure I was OK at no charge and gave me a free massage when I recovered. I have noticed especially in the last 6 months how many people have posted 4 times in total and make a derogatory comment. They likely re-join a couple of months later under a different name and say something else. Why not stay with your same name for 2 years and show your comments consistently? We all know these kinds of customers will NEVER do that. I have been upsold, but I will argue that many times the amount suggested was what I would have tipped anyway for extras, sometimes even less than what was fair, and I gave the higher amount anyway. There are A LOT (how many exclamation marks should I add here) who blatantly want serious extras (from totally naked masseur to much more) and want to tip less than $80 for such full-service. If they don't get it, they make vague accusations about the masseur. For the claim Yura does not answer in-box messages, I don't even know how to do that, but all I can say VERY simply is that if you can't visit the site during the weekdays when he almost always is there, then call him between 11 AM to 6 PM. When I call to book a session that isn't late night or on the weekend, he almost always has been there and even the person who took the initial call.

Let’s be real, these guys don’t have to do anything they don’t want to do and if you go you should walk in with zero expectation and be respectful and see what happens. If you don’t love your session don’t see that masseur again.

Agreed. I hope for the best but if I have a bad experience, I just don't see that masseur again. When I have a good experience, I tip well and see them again. (And usually they earn a bigger tips during future visits too! lol)

Call 311? Girl - WTF is that gonna do? You know there are always two sides to the coin. Why don't we ask Adem what this queen wanted in return for the tip requested??? I've had quite a few massages by Adem and he is very consistent and always attentive to our time together.
Fire him? Take a seat sista .....

The problem with YOU, you didn’t get what you want from Adem, because you want  more beyond his professional service.

Not sure I agree with this. I’ve had one of the best experiences with Artem and Sandro. I don’t see anything wrong with them asking for tips, otherwise they’d basically be working for free for everyone. Honestly, I respect that their boss stands behind them, it made me respect the place even more. No one should dictate how they do their job,the only downside for me is sometimes having to wait for the masseurs in the room, that gets a bit tiring. Other than that, it’s really about picking the guys who fit your vibe and not whining about those who don’t. These are young guys trying to make a living,I don’t think this needs explaining…

I agree with this except for the asking for tips part. I don't think they should be doing that. I've only had that happen once at all the dozens of times I've gone to HK and that was with a person who only worked there once or twice I think going there to earn a few extra dollars on a once or twice basis.

Welcome to the forum @Fransis. Great to hear you had one of your best experiences with Artem. That doesn’t change my view on my experience.
Sandro I do recommend, just as many others have on here.

Thank you. That’s exactly my point- just because someone didn’t work for you doesn’t mean they’re bad. I’m not into massages that feel like a wrestling match, but I know it’s about picking the right masseur for my preferences. If someone gives me a super deep massage, I wouldn’t run online to leave a bad review – it just means their style isn’t for me, and that’s fine..

I get where you’re coming from, but I don’t think asking for tips is such a big deal. In most service industries it’s completely normal- bartenders, hairdressers, even delivery guys expect tips. Why should masseurs be treated differently, especially when most of them aren’t making a fortune off the base rate? I’d rather know upfront that tips are appreciated than assume they’re fine working for pennies

Also where do you guys check the schedule? I’ve never come across Abel or Sergey

They usually post them on their Instagram page

I am good with discussing it ahead of time, or after the session, not in mid of it.

I am there to look for a sense of intimate touch to cure my loser life. Discussing $ definitely ruins that feeling. It leads to endless self doubt. Even after that session. I will skip that guy forever.

I understand why the therapist wants to ask explicitly, but still hope It can be more strategic  and considering, good for both sides.

Ultimately you're there for a massage, and paying for a massage. If you start hinting towards something more than that then its fair game for them to mention they're price. You can take it or leave it. They're not there to build your self esteem and make you feel wanted. You can hire a skilled escort for that. You can't expect them to leave it up to you to "tip" an amount at your discretion especially in a $70/hr place in which they get a third of. My 2 cents.

I feel like I started a whole big argument and did not mean for that. The problem with asking for tips is it jeopardizes the spa and everyone’s job, which is why it’s not allowed in the first place. See TSMS. The whole point of this forum is to discuss our experiences. If you had a bad time, share that. If you had a great time, share that. But I don’t think anyone on here should be demanding anyone lose their job, that’s insane.
