Hi, I'm a bit of a late bloomer, but, by your experiences, or if you know of others who got a later start.

I'm in good shape, eat healthy, and have some nice features. can hold a good conversation about many subjects since I know that some encounters are for companionship.. so, have it all covered.

 

oh, by the way, I just turned 40, hairy chest.. fit. ;-)

 

Where can I start? where did you start? What are the most reputable services out there. I want to tread carefully. I'm in the Southeast, not bordering any ocean or gulf.. :-) :-)

Welcome aboard! First, you yourself refer to the age thingy when you say you are a late bloomer. There is still going to be a large market for you, but the market you're playing to would be larger if you were to downplay this angle. Just don't mention your age. Let people look at your picture, and then try to guess your age for themselves. If they insist on asking you your age, it might be better to answer them. Or it might not. They're buying intimacy, not a horse. People get such wierd ideas about age. If you ask them to picture a person of a certain age, they will usually picture someone older than the person actually is.

 

Personally, I wouldn't go with an agency were I you. Most of their time will be spent on the projects that are easier sells and get sold more often. That would be the twinks. So you wouldn't get as much of your agent's attention, which wouldn't help you to find your niche clients. In fact, you could almost say that your agent would be busy first offering your clients someone else and waiting for the clients to buck Madison Avenue and say that they would really rather have your type. In other words, your agent would be working against you.

 

Don't think that you have to have a most wonderful site to have your own site at all. (And it always looks better to me on the listing boards if you have a site available.) There are companies which will not only arrange for you to have a domain name but will also give you a template on which to build your site. If I remember correctly, the one I use is called Anyone's Email. Then after you establish a presence and make the money to pay for it, assuming you don't have the skills or the time to learn the skills, you can pay someone to make you a wonderful site. Actually, I think that getting in the right rings would be more important. Also, new pictures every three months. And here I am starting to suggest things I haven't gotten done yet myself.

 

And, of course, don't go absolutely gung-ho until after your third client, to make sure you're going to like the business.

As for your age well remember everyone has different tastes. Not everyone finds those of us that are stil young according to societies standards actrative. I have browsed the reviews in my city and other cities and have seen quite a few reviews for guys who are 30, 40 and even 50. So give it a shot dip your toes in the pool and see how you like it. I'd agree here with placing an ad in your local paper, instead of or in addition to the websites. I'm finding the newspaper ads still do really well, especially if you include your web address or at least an e-mail.

 

I agree that you shouldn't be too concerned about age. Just think, 40 and not jaded! HA! }( There are definitely guys who like older guys, I'm sure you'll discover.

 

As for testing the waters, I noticed on your profile that you currently do massage. This should give you an idea whether you want to go full on into escorting... I started off giving massages but found I really wanted to get more involved than that, so it just sort of lead to escorting from there.

I am not sure if this is one of them, but heard rentboy.com mentioned as a recommended site. I also like this one but not sure how many first timers start on it. The layout and professionalism here seems to stand out.

 

With anything, I think you have to spend a little in order to find out if it's for you or not. I'm willing to do that.

 

I've already got a web site, have put some ideas to paper, read other sites both here and elsewhere. Figure I need to have the legaleaze in place before I start taking clients, preferably on a website (which means I'll have to apply for another domain.. have a few inexpensive hosts ($30 / year for one) that I'm looking into.

 

The massage has evolved to strictly therapeutic to not as much (if you get my drift) }( I have great hands, so I'm told.

 

About how many websites (there seem to be a litany of them around) are you guys on? Do some bring you more business than others?... and some of you said the local gay rags bring in a lot of business. There are a couple of them around here.
