jazzfan
So, would be interested in comments from all of you. This has happened twice now and would appreciate your thoughts. First off, my givens: 1. Massage is a physically demanding job and makes masseurs tired. 2. Travelling masseurs may also have jet lag to deal with travelling across time zones. 3. Travelling masseurs to my city (Boston) are often very busy due to the inadequate number of masseurs for a city of this size. With that as background, I made an appointment with a masseur for later in the evening. Drove to the location. Messaged him that I had parked. No response. Waited 15min and then drove home, assuming that he had fallen asleep. Indeed, that is what happened. What should happen next? Immediate re-schedule with discount? Immediate re-schedule with free massage? Nothing at all--so sad/too bad? Other options? TorontoDrew
EastbayMike
Find another masseur. Unacceptable behavior. He completely wasted your time. crazyivan, VersOral, Cruiser7 and 7 others 3 3

InChiTown
Masseur should apologize, reschedule with discount, and ensure it doesn't happen again. I'd be willing to forgive and forget one time. TylerInTexas, TorontoDrew, coriolis888 and 1 other 2

Client1985
Certainly an apology/acknowledgement. An offer to reschedule which you should graciously decline. + Vegas_Millennial, InChiTown and TorontoDrew 1
Kody S
I have had a masseur a time or two fall asleep on me. The first time was before a session and didn’t hear my first or second knock at the door. When he answered the door, he was drowsy, almost naked, and quite disoriented. He was apologetic. I offered to come back another time, but he insisted I stay and the massage was not bad. The second was the time a guy quit in the middle of the session saying he was too tired to finish. He did cut the price in half which I thought was generous of him. But as he was sincere and just worn out, I paid him the whole fee. I’ve been there when I needed to work and was just too tired for whatever reasons. + Vegas_Millennial and + bashful 1
Guest
I posted this in another column. It wasn't a traveling masseur, it was a house and a masseur that I had seen before. I was ghosted. He said he had an emergency, but there were cars in the driveway and he was still listed as Available Now. I was frustrated because I just wasted a 45 minute drive and the gas for nothing. What do you do? If the masseur didn't offer you another appointment or discount, your option is to cut your losses and find a different masseur. + Vegas_Millennial
As a client, I've missed 2 massage appointments because I took a nap and overslept my alarms. Life happens. I apologized profusely. I was still able to meet with one of the massuers albeit over 30 minutes late, and tipped extra. Kody S
Kody S
You know I have wondered if there was a site like this for masseurs who discussed clients. Haha. I know there are masseurs / providers on this site and I always appreciate their thoughts and perspectives. + Vegas_Millennial

There is a site where masseurs/escorts post info but the intelligence on clients is only about time wasters such as those who no show or try it on with payment. The other information is things like advice on advertising, room hire, health etc. It’s a UK site so is mostly relevant to Uk sex workers. It’s not as busy as this site is although there is a similarity in that it uses the same forums layout and style, must be same software. Unless I missed something, you have no responsibility to contact him. If he did not contact you in a reasonable time after, I drop him. I seldom have issues with masseurs bc I use the same 1-2 always.

I showed up 10:32 and sent a text message. I waited 15min and, hearing nothing, drove home. He messaged me 4am saying that he'd fallen asleep. I messaged back that I'd assumed that that is what happened. No other communication after that. Kody S
Deadlift1
I always try to book there first appointment of the day between 10 am and 2 pm. Noon is usually the best, especially for the younger providers who like to sleep in. They are horny as shit in the am too. I know that is difficult for some clients. I always ask "what works for them?" Go when they offer a discount that is usually when they are slow. Scott Dixon
I had this occur recently, although with a local masseur, not a traveling one. I arrived at his studio (in an office building) at the agreed time and his door was locked. I texted repeatedly with no response. I called and left him a voice message; waited 15 minutes and left. An hour later, he texted me back saying he had obviously just massaged someone who was not me! He offered that we reschedule two days later and he Zelled me $40 for my inconvenience--AND he offered me my first massage free of charge, 90 minutes. It was so good and I was so impressed with his response that I have been back twice and am about to book again. A very fine person and excellent masseur. jazzfan, Deadlift1, + The Big Guy and 7 others 4 1
guyfouryou
In the 4am message should have been an apology and offer to reschedule with a discount. Time is money (he should know more than anyone) and he's wasted yours. The onus is completely on him and the recompense should be complete as well. The decision to accept is entirely yours. Anything you're unhappy with, post here for the "paper trail." 🙂

As stated, he was a traveller so I am pretty sure that he's out of my area now. So, I wasted an hour of time and probably a gallon of gasoline. guyfouryou
