Male Strip Clubs in or near DC

I know this answer will not help your present situation, but in the early eighties DC was male strip club nirvana. Texas Drilling and another club on 14th Street were great - just enough sleaze and an anything goes attitude. Men would sit at the bar, a dancer with a hard-on would crouch down and the patron would grab, lick, suck or whatever. At the time 14th Street was nothing but peep shows and prostitutes from Vermont Ave down to almost the White House,

There was a very sleazy dancer bar on Connecticut Ave over a KFC location. You would smell the frying chicken when in the bar. There was another place on 23rd just north of P. The Hung Jury was close to the White House, there was another stripper bar on 17th near Annie's and the great places on O SE, where the stadium was built. There was even a place in Georgetown on Wisconsin just north of M, a few doors up from the American Cafe, that featured dancers a couple nights a week.

These places were all naked all the time. Many of my college friends, mostly straight guys, would work a couple nights a week for spending cash. Oddly, none of the gay guys did.

and the old Chesapeake House on 9th street for people who liked chicken.

But yeah, all of the gentrification and development forced all of the nude male dance places out of business over the years.

I think you need to either get on a plane to South Florida or Montreal these days

I forgot about the Chesapeake House. Two college friends worked there to save enough money to spend the summer after Junior year in Amsterdam. They were both the definition of twink. Both are straight, both are now married to women and have families.

With all due respect, there is nothing in South Florida that comes close to the DC strip clubs of the eighties. The VIP room at SW in ATL came close but it was too fancy and too Disney-like. And now it is gone. The Campus and Taboo are probably the closest to the old clubs to be found in North America.

the time period you're speaking of there were at least 7 nude gay strip clubs in DC.  Wet,  the old Secrets, the Cinema Follies and la Cage au Folles were all next to each other on O St SE. Cinema Follies had a fire a Congressman died in.

the Lone Star was behind the FBI headquarters and the FBI owned it after confiscating it for tax problems. in the daytime it was women strippers and at night very young boys. so young a congressman had to resign for meeting a 17-yr old stripper/escort there. the Chesapeake House gay nude strip was up the street from it and closed when the old convention center was built.

what's now the Fireplace bar used to be upstairs on Connecticut and was a gay nude strip club. now it's a Black normal bar.

the best of the best was Dollies with drag strippers and adjoining escort bar Naples next to the old bus stations at 12th and NY Ave. they shared the Terminal Hotel upstairs. many Marines in on weekends from Camp LeJeune. Naples was every year named DC's trashiest bar by Washingtonian and they proudly displayed that on the wall. Hotel California was probably repeated on the jukebox there more than anywhere in the world. I spent several years on barstools there and met some of America's hottest guys.

Steve the last owner of the new Secrets was a stripper in the old Secrets and met his lover there who he inherited the bar from. Matt Colunga, the owner of Johnsons in FLL also stripped there as did Tim and Matt who now run the Adonis shows and parties in NY, LA, etc. They used to bunch up in a car and "work" south Florida (not dancing).

Fun days.

I remember those days fondly. My time period would be right before your time period. Secrets was not open yet. IIRC there was a lesbian bar at that location called The Men's Den. La Cage was not open yet, nor was the place below the bathhouse and Follies. Fireplace Bar was on P St, with a fireplace in the front which could be seen on P St. It was an old man's bar. I had a friend who would frequent that place to find "sponsors" for the night.

Twins Steve and Joel owned the Fireplace and started the gay strip club on Connecticut mentioned above but it lasted about a year from rent/finances. They then made the upsides at Fireplace a hustler bar with the downstairs a normal gay bar. That didn't last either. Eventually it evolved into a nice Black gay bar.

Of all the gay nude strip clubs La Cage was most people's favorite because not only was it intimate, unlike Wet, but the guys were nice to be intimate with, unlike the old Secrets. La Cage was the high-class young men looking to service old men for $$. Class always comes through.

You win! I worked at the American Cafe Georgetown which was a couple doors down from Mr. Henry's. We would sometimes go there after the day shift, which I worked on Fridays. It was virtually impossible to actually have classes on Friday at GW back then.

I remember the Pier. in 1982-3 they would hold college parties on Friday nights. Fliers would be slipped under dorm room doors at all the area colleges. It was all straignt college students but they would show rotating gay photos on the walls. I remember trying to look at the pictures but not seem like I was looking at the pictures. It was not until the summer after my Freshman year that I started going to Badlands, The Frat House, the Lost and Found and the establishments on O St and near 14th St.

La Cage did not open until after I graduated and move to Atlanta for law school. I went there on visits to DC. I loved Lone Star and Texas Drilling. The dancers were always hard and many would crouch down on the bar and stick their cocks in a patron's mouth. And I remember "a friend." actually screwing a couple dancers in a dark corner. IIRC one of those bars had large windows facing the street.

in 67 I was a horny 18 yr old freshman and every day joined the crowd of young gay Congressional staffers, etc getting off work in their button-downs and ties. Some damn good-lookers who would never go to the Georgetown Grill but Mr. Henry's was a proper place to be seen. Roberta Flack would come over from the Mr Henry's Capitol Hill sometimes to visit. Funny thing is after 8pm many of the same proper crowd would show up at the Club Baths. I did. Eventually I found a barstool at Naples suited me more than a bentwood chair at Mr. Henry's, but it was fun as an 18yr old being introduced to society at Mr. Henry's first.

As someone who lived in DC for 20+ years until about 2 months ago...  once Secrets closed, there has been no bars/clubs/venues that have male strippers on a regular basis.  There are popup venues from time to time, but sadly folks in the District now have to go up to NY or down to Atlanta or Tampa/FLL.
