Now you know why "Exclusivity Contracts" for most don't even come close to what SOME guys can make "Working It"!

I've known a few "Working Guys" who after being asked by Falcon etc said "Thanks but No Thanks". Also alot of guys just don't want that much EXPOSURE ;-) Of course this was before the Financial Crisis we are all going to go through, so Maybe a Job is a Job will be the NEW Thinking?

Porn “acting”, either straight or gay, has never been that lucrative for men. Years ago Playboy did an article about how little straight male porn “actors” got paid as compared to women.

I have always been amused by the condescending attitude of some gay porn “actors” toward escorting. I have read quotes from of number of these guys emphasizing that they are “actors” NOT escorts. However, some porn “actors” have managed to parlay their porn careers into highly successful escorting careers.

In some ways the two careers are almost contradictory in the type of personality they require. Usually porn “actors” have the advantage of being able to work with guys they find physically attractive. The great difficulty they face is performing on a set with a full production crew under bright lights. Escorts on the other hand usually work in private BUT must be able to perform with guys of all ages, sizes, and appearances. Outstanding escorts MUST first and foremost be “PEOPLE, PEOPLE” that is not necessarily the case for gay porn “actors”.

If a guy is good the BIG BUCKS are in escorting NOT porn “acting”.

I have often heard this as well. It seems very unfair for I'm sure the studios, such as Falcon etc make mega buck from their products.

Perhaps male porn stars need a union (I'm generally NOT in favor of unions but sometimes they are necessary). Failing unionization, if all the "stars" simply refused to work unless the payout was higher, or they received a percentage of the gross or profits, the studios might take a different attitude towards the whole deal.

Unfortunately there would probably always be newcomers willing to do it for less just to break into the business.

The main problem with careers in porn “acting” is that one is at ones most desirable immediately upon entry into the field. The more experience, i.e. exposure one has the less desirable one becomes. In most fields time and experience lead to higher salaries – not in porn. An excellent example of this is Josh Weston’s porn career. He started out at the top, with Falcon, in “large” budget films and recently, several year later, has been making “low” budget bareback videos for SXvideo. Unions only function successfully with long term membership. Porn “actors” don’t hang around long enough for that to work.

Porn is a field that is constantly on the look out for NEW MEAT because it is constantly discarding its OLD MEAT.

I saw a documentary on porn recently and they made the point that men get paid more in gay porn than in straight porn. They interviewed on actor who does gay porn with his wife on the set (often offering tips) and he said he did gay porn becuase it paid more. They also interviewed Jeff Stryker, who said he went into gay because it paid more - he said he 'wouldn't even take it out of his pants' for what straight porn offered. (I assume this was in his earlier days). I got the impression that some gay porn actors are in the same league as some of the women, but I'm not certain of that.

RE: What do porn stars make? What about Gay for Pay?

Thursday's Tyra Banks show is doing a "Gay for Pay" porn star episode. The promo has a bunch of the gay for pay guys claiming they are straight and even has their wives/girlfriends on the show. The clip has one allegedly straight guy claiming that to make the same amount in a month he gets for doing one guy he'd have to do 20 women.

http://tyrashow.warnerbros.com/

I know that a lot of gay guys have no issue with the gay for pay but I just don't get into the fantasy. As soon as I find out the guy is gay for pay I lose all interest. It's cynical exploitation of gays from my perspective.

There are outtakes of some of these guys balancing a straight porn mag on the back of a bottom he's fucking or on a guy's head during a blowjob. That just turns me off though I guess some get off on the degradation.

RE: What do porn stars make? What about Gay for Pay?

Thanks for the heads-up on this show.

Having sex with 'straight' men is a real fantasy for some guys. I always was doubtful that a true straight guy would be that good at it, but then, I prefer a very interactive session with me in the more dominant role. }(

It really comes down to what turns each of us on, and that's a very individual thing. (Reminds me of a post in anotehr htread in whihc someone says, 'why limit yourself to a particular age range'. I personally think the ability to control or change what turns us on is pretty limited.

btw - I believe one of the guys in the line-up is Kurt Wilde, who was fired from his job (at Subway?) when a customrr recognized him from some of his porn work.

Porn performers are not employees. They are independent contractors.

The producers, faced with "union" rates, would just hire the newbie fresh off the bus who doesn't know about the union yet. That's actually ALWAYS a possibility, because the newbie might be younger, prettier, and have a bigger dick.

RE: What do porn stars make? What about Gay for Pay?

I think it was big mean-looking Donnie Russo that said he loved working with the gay-4-pay bottoms, particularly when they brought the gf on the set. He said he'd fuck 'em even harder to make sure the gf heard the squealing. }(

Given the short careers and relatively low pay of most porn actors, I would say that probably the only semi-intelligent reason to become a porn actor would be to promote your escorting career. Escorts with a porn background can get a lot more per session, for obvious reasons (I certainly will pay more for a former porn actor than someone I know less about). Porn "actors" are not really actors. They're getting paid to be filmed having sex with other guys. Yes, the guys they have sex with are more handsome than most escort clients, but porn "actors" are essentially escorts. To have a condescending attitude towards escorts is the ultimate in the pot calling the kettle black.

I personally think it's foolish for a porn actor not to escort. Escorting is probably the only career helped by a porn past.

Every Hollywood movie star falls into the same category but it didn't stop them from organizing and going on strike.

>Sean Cody offered to let him choose which guy to fuck and $4000 cash.

That's nuts! My friend did 2 TITAN shoots and one for HOTHOUSE and made <$500 for each. I don't think it was a $$ thing - more of an ego thing.

Maybe Sean Cody is more popular than I thought... or maybe not as many updates as randyblue.com. I haven't been a member at Sean for a while. Let us know if Nio does a shoot - I'll probably join to see it :9

Knowing Sean Cody, he'll probably be billed as a straight guy who's cheating on his girlfriend... ;-)

Frankly I have NEVER seen the point of the little bios that many porn site churn out regarding their models. If I read them at all, which I usually don’t, it is for amusement NOT facts and certainly NOT for truth. I happen to like the type of models that Sean Cody uses BUT am currently subscribing only to RandyBlue.
