So… why are so many new Client accounts on rentmen defaulting to NYC as their location when they aren’t located in NYC~?

Super confusing to everyone… People keep contacting me saying they are in my city despite their location being listed as NYC by rentmen… Sometimes it is people I am already acquainted with and know are not in the big Apple~

is this yet another rentmen thing or is it a Client thing~?

Platinum/Gold members must have some sort of option in their deal, where if they are even thinking about sneezing in the direction of another city it will list them there, as many places as they like, I guess.

Providing is not the only business to exploit this. Many independent contractors will bait and switch re timeline. But some providers do seem to be lazy about refreshing their login, making them seem “perpetually available.”

I think we all agree that one can be in only one location at a time, and that “available now” needs to be disabled for any location where they are not pinging. The expanded hours intrinsic to the work probably complicates it as well

Online now? They should separate that -  I read that to mean Text, chat or other contact is welcome. Available now is in one and only one place (maybe 15 mi?) otherwise why even sort by city at all? Actual teleportation ability would be valued at 50+ x rate/hr, at least 🖖🏼

And wouldn’t it reduce confused/belligerent contact from potential clients? I always look at their gps map - that should always line up with City+Avail Now, but it’s about 70-80% accurate I would guess. Providers pay the revenue, they get the last word.

My reading of this issue is that 'Available Now' is an option that the escort selects but that it is linked to the profile itself and not to a location. So if they set their profile as available it is wherever they are. The search function will place them in the location that they have selected, and I think the site will relocate them if they have entered a travel location and their date of travel arrives. If that is so, they could appear as available in their travel location if they had neglected to delete travel they decided not to make, and set their profile as available without checking. If someone is on your buddy list you will see that they are 'Available Now' wherever they are at the time.

On the other hand, I believe the 'Online Now' indication is automatic, so they could be online to review messages or edit their profile but not be ready to respond. I don't have any particular expectations about when (or if) I'll receive a response to an RM message, but I realise some readers do.

(As I seem to recall has been said in other threads, there is no guarantee that every escort and every client has the same interpretation of 'available now'. It doesn't necessarily mean the escort is ready to walk out the door, or for you to arrive, in the next five minutes.)

Since I travel so frequently and schedule months ahead of actually arriving in any given city, I keep my profile “on line”when checking my messages but, constantly “available now”~ It shows up in my current location but, also travel cities~ That way, I’m not scheduling day if or something while traveling~ I generally chat ongoing with regular Clients, (who get priority choice of scheduling), and then open up chat for those I’ve been communicating with but, unable to meet yet or on an earlier tour… then I try to leave a day to two open on my tours to new interests~ Generally, the “available now” feature allows for new interests to begin communicating together with me for a potential appointment~ It also shows regular Clients who communicate with me solely thru the site that I’m available to chat~ Doesn’t necessarily mean I’m available to meet at that moment~

The oddity about the way the travel section and profiles are set up is that despite my travel dates listed, Clients and potential Clients seem to see me listed in their city even though I’m not actually there~ I do notice that when Provider profiles are traveling, their travel dates show in the initial front page listed with other providers~ (Meaning… it states in green that the Provider will be in that city the listed specific dates)

Providers can list travel dates for three cities if basic and gold but six if platinum~ You pay extra for that ability

Posted travel plans include dates, which means the Admins could link location and date, and force provider to choose one location per day as Available Now.
A provider in NY could see a last-min AM client, fly to LA for a last-min evening meet before midnight, technically making them “available now” in distant places on same date.
I wouldn’t want to be either client.
The site is for providers, they get to determine their own reality as part of the extra they pay. I just book ahead - usually asking him his lead-time preference so I don’t book too far ahead.

I hope not… that would suck for traveling Providers~

“Last minute” doesn’t work as a viable work method for many of us~
The farther in advance for scheduling the better~ Prior to covid, I was scheduling four to six months in advance domestic in the states and up to 2 Yrs in advance for travel abroad~

You list yourself as Available Now in Zanzibar when you’re actually in Zanesville, OH? 😛 I know you don’t…

Available Now a tool for last-minute bookings isn’t it? This is what I’m referring to - my GPS setting a locale, and my selecting available now - can’t see why it shouldn’t only show me providers in same or nearby locale (say, LA-PS driving distance…). Available now is optional for provider yes? If so, you have to choose it, but why does it match for all future locations in your itinerary?

No… it’s not just for last minute booking~ I never book Last minute~ My Clients rely on seeing I’m available for chatting~ I don’t communicate with other Clients when I’m with a Client and on their time~ I can be with a Client for six hours or two months~ So, they/we rely on “available now” to chat so the communication stays open~
I run two profiles: one based abroad and the other in the states because rentmen doesn’t allow me to transfer my profile from abroad to the states~ Outside of pandemic circumstances, I run one abroad and one simultaneously in the states and will show I’m available now even though I’m not in two continents at the same time~ That knows me to schedule months in advance so that when I get somewhere, I’ve already got a full calendar~ I never wait to get to someplace to book~

I do at times leave one or several days open on any given tour city for new interests
