Has that ever happened to anyone? Seeing the person you hired while trying to maintain privacy? I was always curious as to what the protocol is. What if they “out” me (per say) to other people? Hey I just like hiring masseurs! Sue me, but I don’t want you telling my business… anyone ever run into something like that? Same goes for escorts…

I’m a masseur, and I don’t think you have anything to worry about.  I don’t want clients approaching me in public and based on other discussions in this forum and other masseurs I know, many others feel the same because we are discreet about our massage business. The desire for discretion comes from both the client and the masseur.

Has happened a number of times here in NYC. The first and most nerve wrecking was before I was out and bumped into Jake Deckard on a subway platform while with a group of work colleagues. He was the ultimate in discrete coolness. Pretty much the same on other masseur run ins,

If that's a concern to you then just tell the masseur or escort to please if he sees you out to ignore you. I'm sure he would anyways. They also don't want to see you or run into you in public...or if you are really concerned then don't put yourself in that situation.

Okay, I may be in the minority here, but massage therapy is a legitimate occupation, so why would I embarrass myself or my provider by saying hello to him? From reading this forum, I realize that some providers are closer to sex workers than therapists, but I feel like ignoring the more “legitimate” ones would be equivalent to shaming them for their line of work.  What am I missing?

I think the nuance is what is the provider's business model.  If there is a formal business with a licensed masseur, and someone who sees both men and women, then it is probably fine to say hi in public, like you might your barber.  If he's advertising strictly on rentmasseur, massuerfinder, or adam4adam, it is probably inappropriate to say "hi."
