Ya... I get the whole first amendment thing but then the Mormon church or at least part of that has gone beyond expressing their opinion and moved into a lobbying format of expresing their opinion. Anyone can practice their faith... they are entitled to their opinions and express them... working as a church ADN a lobbying faction is crossing some legal bounderies. They have to decide what it is they are~ If they are a lobbying group then they should be treated as such and not have the sanctioned tax exemption. If they are church/religion then they should remain seperate from the political re;m as a church~ I don;t know. Perhaps I am wrong here. Enlighten me. I would rather be called out as being wrong and then educated to a more correct point of view then profess my own ignorant construct of things. I want to understand the truth of this situation and not just fall back on my own desired sense of truth.

Its good to know that the boycotts and the protests are having some impact. Thats definitely apparent with these individuals who were Pro-Prop 8 having to come out to make statements.

Its easy for me to avoid all of those companies except American Express and Priceline. But seeing the negative responses of conservative gays on here help give me the encouragement I need to carry on with the protests and boycott.

RE: CA Theater Director Resigns. Gave $1000 to Prop 8.

I don't think the guy should have had to resign over this donation. Sure, he was dumb to do it, but why not try to educate him rather than take his job away? Not a good point for us, I think.

It was his choice to resign, wasn't it?

I haven't seen anything saying he was forced to resign, any more than he was forced to support Yes on 8.

Well, just because he lost the license to "Hairspray". Or the creators of "Avenue Q" discussed adding a song about him. Or ... well, maybe there was a little pressure, but it was easily avoided in the first place.

No more mister nice gay. Facing up to angry songwriting teams is far preferable to fearing beatings in the alleys behind the theaters he runs.

I would have no trouble dumping American Express - actually I no longer have their card as I found that many places do not accept them anymore due to their track record of slow payment to the merchants.

I find MC & Visa much more convenient. Thank God the Mormons don't have their fingers in those pies.

RE: UPDATE

I just realized that I've had dinner her once years back. Decor tacky, service meh and food blander then an all fiber diet. Why anyone would honestly eat here on a regular basis is beyond me. I'll take my ma and pa Mexican eatin places in east LA over this over hyped trash any day.

Hugs,

Greg
