I know that not everyone viewed him as favorably as me, but I really enjoyed Rick "The Smart Ass" Munroe's posts.

This site has been most helpful in saving me money/time/aggravation by sharing information that certain providers were not worth contacting.  To clarify, it isn't that I would automatically write someone off just because one poster writes he was disappointed, but if the general consensus is that someone doesn't deliver on what he promises then I definitely don't feel the need to find out for myself whether that's true.

Rick and I were friends. Occasionally he reappears here. Larger than life personally, but a keen judge of people.

I remember some site that gave a daily report on the activity on Santa Monica Drive.  Was that here?  (should be Blvd.)

We used to have some really good threads here about the goings-on at the Gaiety in New York ... those threads were fun.  And very informative.  Just search for 'Gaiety' or 'Gaiety this week'.

 I miss those days.

Except for a brief fling with the predecessor to Boytoy, this is the only social media site in which I have ever participated (I have never even looked at FB or Twitter). I discovered the site in 1999 while looking for info about escorts, but over the years I have spent much more of my viewing and posting time in all the other fora, where I have told stories (too many?) about my many years of experience in the gay world since 1960. I have found useful information here about everything from STDs to how much to pay for a clergyman to officiate at my mother's burial. I have been amused, informed, comforted and outraged by other members. I have even found personal friendships with other members off the site. During the past 18 pandemic months it has formed one of my primary contacts with the outside world. I think it would take a team of professional historians to compile a full technical and social history of the many aspects of this site.

I like  Facebook. Keep in touch with friends, relatives, students I met at the University of Pennsylvania when I auditing courses there.

And, above all, Army friends and their families from 1967-1969 from all of the United States
