My iPhone6S plus is now nearly 6 years old. I’ve replaced the battery twice and I probably need to do it again. But before that I should consider upgrading. I’m in the habit of getting the newest phone each time with the most memory and keeping it as long as practical. AT&T is my carrier but I get my phones unlocked so I can swap in a local SimCard when I’m overseas (frequently). The problem for me is that don’t give a hoot for camera features and that’s where most of the new iPhone technology is headed. I’ll be staying with iPhones: I’m too old and lazy to learn a new O/S. What would you recommend and why?  Thanks

Thanks for all the great 411 but fate dictated a different outcome than I expected. It got so was lucky to get a an hours charge into my ol’ iPhone 6. And my everlovn’ was tired of me delaying something cuz an app hadn’t opened or a website was slow to respond. So while in San Antonio we stopped at the Apple Store which seemed like the only busy place in La Cantera and looked a iPhones. I had spoken to Apple on the phone and was in a wheelchair so we got escorted to the front of the long line. There an earnest and seeming knowledgeable salesman informed me that I could walk out of the store with any iPhone 13 I wanted as long as it was a 1 Terabyte ProMax in white. Anything else including the iPhone 12’s could be ordered but could take 3 to 6 weeks for delivery. We’re planning a 3 month stay with relatives in Asia departing on Thanksgiving. So we bit the $1,700 bullet and left with the new iPhone. I had to buy it unlocked so I can put in a local SimCard when I get to Asia. They transferred all the apps and such but because it’s on a business account we had to stop by a nearby ATT store to get it activated. It was expensive but if I keep it 6 or more years like the last one it won’t be so bad. It least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Just in case….

The iPhone 13 is Dual SIM capable.

One has to be an eSIM. Not all carriers support eSIM’s.

So you could have ATT on the eSIM and leave the physical SIM slot open for the local Asian SIM card (which has to be a “nano-SIM”).

Hope your trip goes well.
