This year, the CARES Act has made charitable giving easier with tax code changes. Even if you take the standard deduction, you can take an extra $300 deduction for charitable giving.

For those of us who are doing well, this is a great time to help the many in need. There are great organizations that can use the funds. I have found the ones with the most “bang for the buck” are usually local with many volunteers to stretch the funds.

Instead of donating to local food banks, people should be pressuring their self-serving "elected officials" to pass legislation that puts money in people's hands so that they can go buy their own food & not have to beg for it.

Seeing all those long lines of people waiting to get food @ food banks is disgusting & should not be happening in the richest country in the world.

One thing doesn't exclude the other one, we can help while others while asking politicians to use tax dollars too.
