Yes, I think I've got it now.  Next, a single check means the the non-responsive recipient read the post, and a double check would mean he replied to the post if he could be bothered to respond at all.

I don't think the double check means replied.  I've seen double check messages without receiving a reply before.  Also, if they've replied you'd easily see that in your message thread.

I think RMs convention is more like this:

Curved arrow:  Message sent via RM

Single check:  Recipient has logged in and RM has notified them that the message is waiting.

Double check:  Recipient has read the message.

Yes!  I just came back in here to say that I re-checked a message thread on RM and I do indeed see notes I've sent with a double check mark that have NOT been replied to.  So now I'm going with YOUR theory.

More and more often there is not a phone number in the “contact me” info, the provider prefers to start the conversation via RM messaging.

I haven't run into this yet.  Interesting.

Ummm....thanks for the unsolicited advice.

That's pretty much what this forum is for. People post their experiences. Others provide reactions, comments, suggestions, and advice. You don't have to "solicit" anything for it to happen.
