The Freeze Membership feature allows you to temporarily pause your membership, so you don’t lose any paid time. You can activate this feature from the account tab in your Dashboard.

COVID Safe Mode is a feature that you can set for your profile to show to other users that you can accept future bookings or offer online services, while at the same time you prefer not to meet people in person.

OP note: guys who select freeze membership won't appear in online searches and won't be charged monthly. I'm glad to see businesses adjusting to the new reality and I noticed the number of guys advertising in DC slowly dropping.

Just did this and thanks for the info.

I was reluctant to edit my bio to indicate that I am taking a break because of how they censor and review and could mess up/delete what I currently have written. Additionally, with how rentmen indicates online or available, simply logging in to check if I have messages could lead clients on to assume I am.taking appointments.

RM still is an annoying platform with many flaws, but I have to give it up to them when they get something right?

I’m sure in a couple of months or whenever all of this is over, guys who read your profile will appreciate you did the right thing.

In my humble experience, most of time they don't, at all.

The one that gets me is when people say "great profile...what are your rates?" When, (not now since I edited it but before this week) I have put my rate in the headline as 2.4.0.= 1 hr and have the link to my website with my rates in the body of my ad.?‍♂️

I always took that as the first step of an attempt to bargain (assuming they did read)

Why did rentmen remove rates for US listings? Whenever I'm in another country rates are visable. If an escort's rates are too high and are listed saves us both wasted time from me contacting them and in some places I can't host and only want to hire an escort who can do incalls.

But why are they only doing it in the US? They aren't a US based site.

Because the US is virtually the only jurisdiction that take it upon themselves to go after consensual online independent sex work. In 2018, the US passed a law called SESTA/FOSTA that basically explicitly allows the feds to go after escort listing sites. Shortly after it passed backpage was raided, craigslist removed their "personals" section, and rent.men stopped showing rates in the US. I'm no lawyer, so I can't explain exactly why, but the theory goes that if money isn't mentioned, the feds have less of a case against them.

As soon as rentmen offered the freeze membership and Covid safe mode last Friday I immediately set my profile to freeze until the situation gets better. It felt like it was the right thing to do plus no one is really hiring now anyways :(:p

I was actually gonna take my ad down last month but my rentmen is setup to take reoccurring payments so it took my money before I remembered to turn it off so thankfully with the freeze mode the remaining days will transfer for when when I return.

I took off a year from rentmen and returned November 2019 so I’m now kicking myself for taking that year off and thinking of the extra money I could have had. I did save as much as I could for the few months I was back on rentmen so I’m ok financially for a couple months thankfully, but I do feel for those escorts and people in general who are living paycheck to paycheck.

You can also activate Covid-safe allowing folks to see your profile in their searches. With the "freeze" option you won't get charged 79 a month for the renewal of your advertisement but it will not be visible now that folks are stuck at home going online and getting tempted. Considering this might last 2 or 3 months you'll only need one client to recover the investment.

But why are they only doing it in the US? They aren't a US based site.

Trump passed a law that said sites could be held resp for trafficking so all sites including RM got nervous and decided to drop the "rate" info for fear of being fined. The law he passed says its to go after human trafficking, but it was really meant to go after escorts. That is why Craigslist ads are gone and why RM sites no longer mention rates, so they can claim ignorance if ever brought up in a suit by the govt. It's just as frustrating for us as it is you though. Cause of the new law it means we waste ALOT of time answering rate question. Most are bargain shopping so it was easier for us when our rates were listed and cheap clients could see that we were out of their price range and didn't message us. Now we have to respond to bargain shoppers all day long. :-(

Do you still have to field those questions even though there's a link to your personal site and it has that information? Oh wait, I already know the answer to that, they only look at your photos before they message you.

LOL. Correct! They only look at my pics! So yes I still have to field those Questions. :-( It makes our life alot harder than it needs to be though. Whenever someone messages me though and says they checked out my website they found on my ad and doesn't ask me my rates (cause they saw them on my website by clicking the link) I'm immediately impressed and extra excited to meet them!! Like it legit makes me Hard as Fuck when a guy mentions they read my ad and liked my website vs a guy that just looks at my pis.

I'm sure Trump has hired more than his fair share of escorts in the past:)

Makes sense though they dropped the rates, I'm surprised they still allow escorts to list what they are into sexually.

Is this law the same reason rentmen won't display detailed reviews in the US but will if you look at the reviews from a country outside the us?

As an aside: has anyone noticed? The amount of ads on both RentMen and RentMasseur has taken a steep dive. Many cities are seeing just 1 page of ads.

What I’m seeing is on par with the amount of providers that were around back in 2008-2009, before it came the overly saturated that we once knew of pre-Corona. I just hope RentMen and company can keep things afloat. But I would hope they have a hefty reservoir at this point.

I guess is because many guys have "frozen" their accounts and they're not visible in the searches.

I think there are different options and combinations in RM in addition to the messaging appearing in ads regarding "frozen" and unable to contact the user appearing at the top of the ad in addition to the message appearing in the upper right corner regarding not "currently" meeting people in person but offering online or future meetings.

I've noticed my RM BuddyList numbers changing by both decreasing and increasing later. My profile is Invisible for searches, so I'm not tracked when visiting other profiles. Some guys appear to have activated an option to not appear in searches, but their profile is still accessible and sometimes it's no longer accessible.

One guy I've followed for quite a while at first had the message in the upper right corner about not "currently" meeting, but then he disappeared from searches, but still appears in my BuddyList and his profile is accessible but now states it's frozen and can't be contacted at the moment. I've also seen where guys disappear and then reappear again in the same location in the BuddyList.

A couple of clients I'm also familiar with and have viewed their profiles multiple times to see their reviews have also restricted their profiles, but others still appear accessible as they normally have been.

I think there are multiple combinations based on options that were already available and are now being combined with the new message / display optilons.

Oops, I accidentally did more than some would be clients to check some of your boxes just so I could reply to things you'd posted here!
