Gassing scenes from Batman were OK, but there's something about chloroform that was attractive because the muscular guy was struggling and fighting, trying to free his face from the cloth over his nose and mouth, his shouts muffled as he slowly loses strength and sinks into unconsciousness. There's something about a strong man succumbing to the chloroform while gassing doesn't really offer much of that.
