Cautious, thrifty or penny-pinching escorts?

A few weeks ago after an hour of fun I took a visiting escort to brunch in his hotel. When we were about to leave he made a smoked salmon sandwich carefully placed it on a Ziploc bag and put it in his cargo shorts pocket. He said it was "for later" and he was happy to have a refrigerator in his room because of his platinum member status.

Would yinz (escorts and clients) call his behavior cautious, thrifty or penny-pinching? I'm sure it's not the first time he's done it.

In what world would someone making a sandwich be considered cautious? LOL

Thrifty.

cautious about spending money and keeping a reasonable ratio between investment (flight + hotel + other spending) and profit.

Unfortunately I know so many escorts who retired with no savings for their future.

People who walk out of brunch buffets with food in their pockets have never owned a restaurant or small business.

Escorts are business owners too.

I’m not sure why it’s even a topic

because I know many escorts who retired with $0. Maybe if they are careful with they money in this situations they are also watchful when it comes to other spending.

I travel for work and mostly stay at hotels that include breakfast. I usually take few bananas ( less than or equal to 3 ) with me in my bag as an emergency snack in the late afternoons because I am at client places mostly and I don’t want to ask clients for a vending machine to begin with and don’t want to eat junk food from vending machines and that too in presence of my client teams.

To add in here. I’ll snag an apple and banana from the lounge at the hotels. I also pack cans of tuna prior to every trip as well. I’ve always been a graze type eater so I like my snacks and meals throughout the day. I can’t say I have preemptively brought bags or containers for leftovers though.

They are hardly entrepreneurs. You have posted many times that many guys leave the profession broke.

The few who save a significant amount of money are entrepreneurs - underline significant.

If an escort walks away from the business having invested that money in something lucrative, sure. Otherwise, I think even calling an escort an “entrepreneur” is ambitious. While one should treat escorting like a business, it’s hardly a business, and more of a strategic hustle.

I thought you didn't consider this thread to be worthy of the forum or that's what you and another poster insinuated earlier.

Planning a trip (running an ad, collecting would-be-clients phones and emails, looking for the right ticket and hotel rate) hoping/expecting to make a profit is an entrepreneurial activity to say the least.

Same applies to escorts who pay high rent in Midtown NYC knowing it will pay off because of most clients are around that area.

We must always invest our money to make a profit no matter how that money was earned.

Eh, not so much.

“A person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so.”

more like this (quoted from a well established escort):

it’s hardly a business, and more of a strategic hustle.
