I'm enjoying EVIL.

CAROL'S SECOND ACT is too formulaic for me so far & Carol's over-the-top enthusiasm is grating and too silly to be even remotely realistic.

I like Bob. I like Abishola. I hate the cliche-ridden dialogue for almost all of the other characters on BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA, but it's from Chuck Lorre so I'll give it some time. Christine Ebersole is enjoyable as Bob's mom & we even got to hear her sing I'll be seeing you in the first episode. I've known she has a lovely voice for years.

I am enjoying TOMMY, which features Carmela Soprano (or is it Nurse Jackie? I get the two confused) as the first female police chief of LA.

I enjoyed EVIL, and though the last 2 episodes were a bit disappointing, I look forward to season 2.

BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA improved, but still has to get better. I'm hoping Chuck Lorre's track record will buy it another season.

CAROL'S SECOND ACT had a few moments here and there but not nearly enough. Something kind off odd happened on the season finale. The hospital Carol works at got a new chief of staff– her ex-husband. Who played him? Kelsey Grammer, whom I assume will be joining the cast, if there’s a season 2.

What’s a bit odd is that after his spectacular success as Frasier, and between her 9-year runs on RAYMOND & THE MIDDLE, they flopped as co-stars in BACK TO YOU, which lasted 17 episodes, and had them as former lovers:

Chuck Darling (Grammer) and Kelly Carr (Heaton) were co-anchors of Pittsburgh news program WURG News 9 that had great on-screen chemistry, despite constant quarreling off-screen. However, Chuck left to take a job elsewhere. After an embarrassing comment he makes results in his dismissal from a large market LA newscast, Chuck returns to Pittsburgh after 10 years to become an anchor on the newscast he originally left. Chuck also learns that he is the father of Carr’s 10-year-old daughter.

She must have enjoyed working with him, though, as she is an executive producer on CAROL & had to have signed off on his casting.

This week’s TOMMY had Mark Blum in a small role. He died a few weeks ago of Covid at age 69. His one scene seemed like it could lead to another in the future, so maybe he’ll also be in an upcoming episode that had been already filmed.

Good news & bad news for you:

Renewed: Evil & Bob Hearts Abishola

Cancelled: Carol's Second Act & Tommy

Well, I enjoyed TOMMY, but I never read any buzz about it, so I can't say I'm surprised. I liked the characters a lot. Oh, well. C'est la vie! Que Sera Sera!

Carol had too many flaws.

I wonder when EVIL is coming back. I haven't read anything about it.

BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA pulled of a near-miracle this week. Neither of Bob's siblings was annoying. I like the leads, but the writing continues to be inconsistent and the supporting characters are often annoying, and I keep hoping the show will improve. This week's episode was one of the more enjoyable ones.

I actually find Abishola quite off-putting most of the time, but am totally in love with Olu and Tunde. And Kimmy is a gem. She gets ALL the good lines.

I love Tunde. My feelings for Olu vary from episode to episode. I usually like her, though. I especially liked the way she got rid of Abishola's hubby. Douglas & (especially) Christina are the ones that I usually can't stand. Goodwin & Kofu are usually funny. And I've always liked Vernee Watson, who plays Abishola's other hospital friend.

Kemi was so-so for me last season, but I can't stand her this year. I find her obnoxious and not funny. I need the closed captions for her & Abishola's accents, though that has nothing to do with my feelings for the character. And I also don't like her boyfriend the pharmacist.

I knew Gina Yashere (Kemi) from her stand-up act & she's usually fairly funny. She's a British born and raised lesbian with very short hair. She's of Nigerian descent, though. She lives with a white professor from John Jay college. They used to live in NY, but Gina moved to LA for the show, & the girlfriend has moved out there since covid, as she's been zoom lecturing.

EVIL is now on Paramount+ and just ended its second season yesterday.  It's weird, but fun, and I like the characters.

I'm still watching BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA, and still hoping it gets better.  They're now married, so it should be interesting to see where it goes from here.  Billy Gardell looks likes he's lost quite a bit of weight from his heaviest days.

Andrea Martin has been upgraded to series regular for the upcoming 3rd season of EVIL.  I'm sure her late identical twin brother Dean would've been proud.

Billy Gardell keeps losing weight.  I keep finding it.  Kemi still annoys me, but I love Gloria, Olu, Tunde, & Dele.  I'm glad they made Christina competent this season, at least in her career.

I am continuing to enjoy this show, but am not sure where they can really take it, unless Abishola gets pregnant ?    Or more of the Gay lesbian cousin ?    Guess we'll see ?

Dottie & Abishola's mother (who gets a divorce, inspired by her daughter) join the dating scene and double date?

Abishola DOES get pregnant and Kemi spends the whole season making annoying comments about the pregnancy?

Bob gains a lot of weight from buying and eating things for her cravings?

To prove to the cousin's family that she's not gay, Dele gets her pregnant?

Tunde admits he's the only Nigerian on the show who was born and raised in the US, inspiring Kemi to admit she was born and raised in London, and has a white girlfriend from NYC?

Nice shots of Mike Colter shirtless on the season premiere of EVIL.

I actually think this one has a chance of happening.

A strange development at BHA:

Only B & A are being brought back as series regulars for season 5.  The 11 other cast members are downgraded to recurring, & guaranteed only 5 episodes apiece.  As a result, they've all been told they're free to accept jobs on other shows.

Sounds like a way to cut down on production costs.

Irony: Just last week Billy Gardell discussed his 150 pound (68 kg) weight loss after surgery, & this week the PTB are cutting the fat.

This explains why Kemi (British-born & raised co-creator & co-producer Gina Yashere, who IS of Nigerian descent and anglicized the spelling of her name from Iashere) accepted Chukameka’s proposal — she’ll be busy with married life.

Dele will go off to college. Bob’s work scenes will be at the new plant, but most of the characters will work at the original one.

OR: Abishola gets accepted to medical school, she & Bob move there, and there are occasional trips home or visits from ~loved ones.

They will have had 80 episodes by the end of this season, so one more full season would get them to the magic syndication number of 100 episodes. They are probably just cutting costs ahead of the final season. I have enjoyed the show but feel that it has run its course. The Goodwin-Kofu storyline has been annoying. Oh well!

My brother in law's reaction:

I thought that Abashola going to medical school was the likely turn of events.  Surprised that Dele is not going to the same school as an undergrad to keep a younger character around.,   Dotty and Abashola's Mother could make for a fun Thelma and Louise type couple traveling around the country and getting into mischief on a spin off that will never happen.

Those are actually great ideas.  Dottie & Ebun can decide to visit and spend several episodes on the road.

You can almost write out the first 5 episodes of those two.. Episode one.  They drive to visit A and B and a Nigerian man with a slightly con man like demeanor who convinces them to drive with him across country.  `Second episode The three of them in Las Vegas where Dotty gets caught card counting and refuses to leave the casino and winds up disturbing the peace and in jail.  To bail Dottie out of the jail, the other two run a three card Monte game at the Bellagio fountain.  Episode three.  The three go to Utah where they pretend to be a throttle in order to get a cheap hotel room.   Sparks fly between the each of the woman and their companion and jealousy rears its ugly head.  Episode four the women realize that their guest is a con man and playing them off against each other and plot a bit of revenge leaving him stranded in the Grand Canyon.  When a report of a body being found in the Grand Canyon the ladies believe they have murdered their con man and hit the road trying to escape the police who are not really looking for them but who keep coincidently appearing when they are doing routine things which leads to them doing relatively minor illegal things such a shop lifting.   Episode, 5 Dotty now wanted for skipping bail in Las Vegas is trailed by a bounty hunter for bail jumping.   They are taken back to Las Vegas. B and A need to come and get them out of the mess they have created.  They return home and are bored with their every day existence.  Episode 6 they decide to try a new trip bringing Tunde and Ulu   along.     Spinoff title.  Three Nigerians and a Lady
