Maybe this subject was posted before in which case I missed it.

But, if some of you have seen the new movie, what did you think?

I was very let down and basically did not enjoy it at all, but I

really can't say what I was expecting. The dancing was enjoyable

and the lead male roll of the boyfriend was really cute, but

that was about it.

I liked it. Its wasn't nearly as good a musical as "Dream Girls", but I liked it.

The last time I was in New York (two years ago) I saw the Broadway show with the original cast and was knocked out by the performances, music and energy even tho I was as far back from the stage as Brooklyn.

Three weeks ago when I was back in New York I saw the movie out on Long Island with a friend. While I liked the movie (the music, the energy and the dances) I was disappointed. I give Travolta props for trying a role he didn't have to risk. BUT, the choices he made as an actor so downplayed the character (especially in light of having seen Harvey in the role) it made the whole exercise feel empty to me.

Overall, I would say the movie is OK, but I left wanting more.

Does that mean my plans to bind your hands and force you to watch AI reruns need to be reconsidered?

I have never seen a purplekow;

I never hope to see one;

I can tell you anyhow;

I'd rather see than be one

Help there is a purplekow in my mirror

Well, that would be true torture, so if you really want to see me squirm in agony, go for it. And if you really want to see me suffer, make me watch the Singing Bee, too! :o

The touring version of Hairspray was one of my husband's favorite musicals of all time, one of the few where he didn't think that the first act dragged.

Now, Now, Rick, I hope you are referring to the movie because didn't I take you to see the musical when we got together in December 2004? I realize I am not that memorable--but I thought the play would be.

Gman

PS Maybe I'll have to schedule another overnight to try to make a more lasting impression.

I was definitely referring to the movie! (I won't see that because of Travolta, and I won't see Dreamgirls because of Eddie Murphy & Beyonce.) But clients have taken me to see Broadway musicals that I wouldn't have ordinarily chosen to see on my own (I usually choose plays), and every time (except once...no, twice), I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed myself. That includes Hairspray with you (I was never a fan of Bruce Villanch before that night but he really won me over), Kiss Me Kate (I liked it so much I went back with Derek two more times and once with another client), The Full Monty (again, I went back a few more times to get a better look at Patrick Wilson's junk), The Boy From Oz, Wicked, Avenue Q, Drowsy Chaperone (OK, mostly I was thrilled to see Georgette Baxter) and lots of others. The two I didn't particularly care for were The Producers (because of the fag jokes) and Mamma Mia (I kept wishing the real ABBA were there).

You did make lasting impression, but yeah, maybe I need a refresher. :9

What do you have against Eddie Murphy & Beyonce? x(
