Well, I love them but I'm a top and that means erectile disaster using them and wasting all that Cialis/Viagra money. But my #1 loves them now and so there's tons of questions as to the 2 main type US formulas and the weak new European one vs. sprays vs. the real stuff we used to do when I was young. Where to get, etc. But I'm not sure if any of those subjects violate any rules here so I'm a little timid to ask.

Funny - I was actually going to mention that before. My general experience with guys who feel they just have to use those poppers is that then they can't get it up. So what exactly is the point of using them during sex anyway?

Absolutely. But also absolutely counter-productive too.

 

Like millions of gay men I love them but when I had to start using ED meds I had to learn to leave them alone otherwise they would immediately kill my erection, as they're famous for. But they are legal and immensely popular, especially for bottoms. Isobutyl and isoamyl nitrate are the two legal varieties in the US and some much prefer one over the other. There's a newish European formula that is so weak as to be nothing. It starts with a "p".

 

Back in the dark ages when I was young we had the real amyl nitrate in the break-open vials that was meant for reviving people who had fainted. That's where so many millions of us got hooked on them pleasure-wise and it started coming in small bottles. They were still legal in the UK until recently. Now people are making their own and selling it at parties and raves. To many in the gay community, poppers are a gay political issue, objecting that the nanny state interferes with one of the big pleasures in gay sex life.

I don’t like poppers. Like @bostonman, I hate their smell. Furthermore, as pointed out by @Benjamin_Nicholas, using them with any ED medicine is highly dangerous: it can result in death.

The visual alone, of someone shoving a tiny bottle up their nostril mid-sex isn’t the sexiest. And bottoms usually get a little too rowdy when using sometimes. Which I also don’t like. But I also take into consideration they could be doing something much worse, so I tolerate it.

It's funny - I've really always wanted sex to be simply about bodies, emotions, sensations, sharing, etc, but not objects. So when a guy has to pull out a bottle and sniff from it to enjoy sex, I just don't relate. I'm also not a drug user at all. I'm not really judgmental about others' substance use as long as they're in control of it, but I don't like it having to involve me.

 

I had a hookup experience once with a guy who, mid-play, suddenly got up and said he needed a cigarette. And he went off to have one. I found that very rude, and rather galling that his nic fit was more crucial than the fun we were having. When he came back, I was dressed, I made the most gracious apology that I could, and let him go. (Now, to be honest, if he had needed a cigarette AFTER, it wouldn't have been so bad. I know very little about all the new types and formulas of poppers. And I had to stop using them a few years ago because of them killing my erections and my #1 is too great a bottom to waste. But he loves them now and that benefits me so I have to get up to snuff on them.

Sorry, but that this information is incorrect.

 

The original amyl nitrite in break open vials (hence the name “poppers”)

were for treating angina (chest pain) and occasionally as part of a cocktail

used to treat cyanide poisonings. There are now better medications for

both so you rarely see real amyl nitrate poppers anymore.

 

You are thinking of an ammonia based product (aka “smelling salts”) that

also comes in glass vials that gets broken and placed under patient’s nose

to provide a noxious stimuli that “awakens” them when they pass out. It

provides no clinical benefit. Since it is essentially useless (and has the

unpleasant side effect of making the whole room smell like shit) you rarely

see it any more either.

Sorry to hear you did not receive the product from them. I've ordered from the same website and received the product promptly. However, if I had the same experience as you did that would be the last time placing an order with them. If you are still curious about poppers, try Double Scorpio. I use https://www.poppersbymail.com/ . In Ft Lauderdale and recommended on Reddit a lot. Always cheap and reliable. Plus, after 1st buy if you write a review they give you 15% off each order. They take cards. My #1 doesn't seem to know the cap also screws back on the bottle so we go through a bottle a night. They probably think I'm a store and I should ask for a retail discount.

I came out just as popper vials became little bottles so I never really tried the breakables.

 

The stuff today is nothing remotely as strong.

I think the poppersbymail site is a good bit cheaper and they take cards. I've used them several times and they come promptly from Florida with tracking info constantly supplied. Even with the $7 shipping I get 6 bottles of 30ml Jungle Juice for $11 a bottle and some brands are less. At the store they're $30 a bottle plus tax.
